PLEASE FORGIVE ME……GO OUTSIDE. –NATHAN.
As I read those words, I didn’t have time to think, I went straight outside – to our backyard, smiling all the way. A smile that I didn’t even think I can do, a smile of sudden relief of finally getting to be noticed by a very important person, a smile of pure happiness – if happiness is even the word for it. A smile of finally getting a Word Puzzle correctly and knowing the answer is very unexpected and heartwarming.
And the first thing my eyes captured was the colorful series lights scattered around the yard – going from red, to violet, the darkness of night making it stand out beautifully. Scanning the whole setting, lights, cold evening air, Nathan staring at me with a smile.
Soon is finally over.
“Took you a long time to solve a puzzle?” His voice. His smile. His presence. Him.
“It was a hard puzzle!” I chuckled and went closer to him, but still admiring the colorful lights my eyes are gazing at. It was like we were at the galaxy, the lights are the multi-colored stars, Nathan is in front of me, behind him are the stars. It was perfect. “Goona was giving me a hard time.” I continued.
He gave me his half-smile and looked at the surrounding, “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” he asked. My answer was obvious to the look I gave him. When I stood beside him, our skin touching, his soft skin touching mine, inhaling the same cold air around us. This moment is beyond flawlessness.
Night is my most favorite part of the day, where I can finally be me, all alone, in a dark place. Being outside the house is the best part, mostly because I can smell the night air and the darkness of everything surrounding me with only the light of the changing Moon and periodic stars up above. Which I don’t know how many times I’ve mentioned about their beauty already, but it deserves its ode.
“Good to talk to you again.” he said as we faced each other, staring unto those green eyes that I missed.
“Me too.” My cheeks were starting to ache as I was smiling for how many hours non-stop, but I don’t want to stop smiling, not that the very best part of the day is just starting. I never want to stop smiling, knowing that nothing will go wrong ever again.
Looking through him, behind was the white piano from inside the house. So white that I can make out its figures even with the natural dimmed light. Nathan looked to where I was looking and smiled – his smile of perfectionism, “Come here” he grabbed my hand – my hand – and rushed to the piano stool.
“How did this get out here?” I asked.
“Took me a lot of muscles.” he opened the cover and the shiny alternating black and white keys of the keyboard was seen. I remembered the first time I saw him playing the piano, time flies, so many things has happened ever since.
“Sit” he requested, patting the spot beside him – I obeyed.
“I’m guessing this is your gift?”
“Yeah, and my speech will be after this.”
“And your piece of paper with a weird name on it will be?”
