*Melissa’s P.O.V*
Guess who’s turning 18 today?! A blonde exchange student named Melissa Jane Braunt! In other words, I am! Today is my 18th year of existence, good to know I survived long enough to reach 18 years. Yes, I am very, very happy today. I really don’t know what will happen today, so positive energy on!
I got out of bed smiling and glooming. Today is Wednesday, I don’t know but every Wednesday something about Jay and Nathan change, either so energized or so sad like they remembered something, I guess something happened every Wednesday when they were still a band, I don’t know.
When I went downstairs, Nathan was already getting ready to go to school early, already has his jacket and beanie on. I’m still mad at him, I bet he is too, but the wounds are just starting to heal, soon enough it will be gone. I looked at him and before he could open the door…I don’t know why I would do this but, just so he knows what day today is.
“Happy birthday to me, happy birthday, happy birthday to me” I sang in an innocently loud voice through the kitchen so he could just have even the slightest hint that it’s my birthday. I peeked through and even with his head sided; I can see his smile, half of his smile.
He walked out of the house and shut the door softly. I kind of expected that he would finally go to school with me again and hope that my birthday is an exception, but I guess not. Staying positive, I know that sometime today he would talk to me, even say Hi for once.

“Oh my god! Happy birthday Lissie!” Trixie attacked me in a hard hug that almost made me fall. I told them yesterday that today is my birthday so they kind of also brought me presents too, even though I said that they shouldn’t.
“Thank you!” I cheered. I am expecting so much to happen today; what Trixie, Luke, and Jay got for me, Andrew’s ‘gift’; Nathan’s noticing me. But expect the unexpected, right? I didn’t invite many, just them 4 at the Sykes’ House.
I don’t know if it’s a good idea letting Andrew in the same roof as Nathan but, it’s my day today so surely he’ll understand, right?
Lunch came and I decided to go sit back with them again, I’m missing out on what they’re talking about, like Jay’s history in dancing, Luke’s new song, Trixie’s sparkling nails, Nathan’s negativity. It’s good to sit back with your true friends.
“Hey!” shouted their chorus of greetings as I sat down one the other side of the table of where the one who haven’t talked to me. I was sad that its noon and still no signs of recognition, soon, I thought. But hey, even though they don’t react doesn’t mean that they don’t notice.
“How’s your day going?” Luke asked me while taking a bite of his cheese sandwich.
“Learny…usual day at school, nothing exciting happening yet” I said in a child tone voice. They chuckled at my answer, I even glanced at Nathan as he made a tiny grin.
We talked more, but then I saw Andrew come inside the cafeteria. Blushing, I just kept on talking. I saw him walking towards our table with a smile.
