*Quick heads up, this might get confusing, sorry if you don't understand, it should get clearer in the next few chapters. :)

"So, what are you going to do?"

Marco sighs and lays his hands down on the desk, his eyes closing in, what I assume as, annoyance. Taking a deep breath he opens his eyes while anger and defeat flash across his face, confusing me.

"What? What are you going to do?"

Once again he closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, hands curling into tight fists this time.

"There is only one thing that I can do, Debra, you know that"

I look at him, his tensed expression, his clenched fists, I was thoroughly confused.

"I don't know, what?"

"Why did I ever think that you would make a great queen?"

He groans as he slaps his hands to his face.

"Are you really so dumb, Debby?"

"Well that's insulting"

I scoff, turning up my nose and walking over to the dining table while runing my hands over the back of the chairs. He stands up and follows me, putting his hands on my waist he turns me around to face him. I look into his eyes.

"Just tell me Marco"

He pulls me to his chest, wrapping his arms around me before lightly kissing my head.

"My father..."

He takes a deep breath before continuing.

"My father used to say that you should never give up or turn around untill you have completed your task or reached you goal."

I squeeze his arms lightly in support.

"I haven't done what I came here to do, Debby, I haven't gained control of Meacambro."

I hug him tightly and mumble into his chest.

"You don't always have to complete your goals, we can come back later, do another, better planned attack."

He pushes away from me until we are at arms length. He stares into my eyes with such emotion that my body becomes paralyzed.

"I didn't think you would understand, but I had hoped you would..."

I cut him off by stepping closer to him.

"I do understand Marco, but I don't think you should follow his words"

He takes a step back before turning, when he turns back his gaze is hard.

"Whose side are you on Debra?"

I suck in a sharp breath and take a step back with tears in my eyes.

"I will forever be with you Marco."

...

Both Marco and myself were starting to feel defeated. My plan to capture one of the shifters came to a halt when our special forces announced that both Selia and Claus were either constantly with Krissa or high ranking officals, making it almost impossible for us to kidnap them. Not for the lack of trying however.

The first force went out and managed to locate Selia but had to abandon the mission due to being caught in enemy territory.

The second force didn't fair any better, they got close enough to grab ahold of Selia's arm however they hadn't realised the sword in her hand and undermined the skill she possessed. Lets just say that the soldier no longer has two arms, or a head.

The third force was a fail from the get go, Krissa had stepped up her guard. Nobody could get within two kilometers of the walls without her forces knowing, lookouts and undercover guards were everywhere. The third force never returned, classified only as missing in action.

It was safe to say that the mood in the cabin was not very happy.

...

I stand at the helm of the ship, a step behind Marco, a symbol of power, as he adresses the soldiers aboard the three ships.

"Soldiers, you have probably already come to the understanding that the Armada will not be surrendering, we will continue this invasion if it's the last thing we do. I have underestimated Queen Krissandra before, but no more, the odds are for us and we will triumph!"

Cheers are heard from all over so Marco gives them a minute.

"This time tomorrow, Meacambro will be no more, this time tomorrow The Kingdom of Palmako will be the proud owners of one of the strongest Kingdoms of Aelia, we will be unstoppable."

Chanting and cheering is taken up while I look at Prince Marco with pride. That one speech has changed everything, that one speech has given me the hope and determination to advance as I am sure it has done to the people around me.

The cheering continues for a few minutes before Marco raises his hand. Silence descends over the three ships, everyone waiting to hear what he has to say.
"Captains, Generals, follow me, for we have a war to win!"

And with that he turns on his heal and walks back through the gold leaf doors to his chambers. You would never have known that he new there was no way to win what we had started, for we had just woken the lioness and she was ready attack.

...
