"What are they doing here?"

Queen Krissa and I look at each other with wide eyes, her blue ones are sparkling with fear.

"We need to speak to the war comanders imediatly!"

I get ready to mentally send a message to Lord Hudson, the leader of our armarda.

"Wait, I don't want to panic anybody, and I have an idea"

I nod and pull out of my mental link.

"Debra, are you able to call for two shapeshifters to meet us at the docks, one of the sky and one of the sea?"

"Of course your majesty"

"Kris"

"Of course Kris"

I gather my strength once more and project mind out until I find my brother Thomas.

Psst, Thomas, Thomas, nuthead, brother?

What? It's to early for mental communication.

It's an emergency.

What is an emergency?

I need two shapeshifters to meet the queen and myself at the docks.

The queen?

Yes the queen, one needs to be of the sky and one needs to be of the sea.

Well if the queen wants it...

She does!

Fine, I will find the shifters!

Thankyou brother.

Whatever.

I look up at Kris a smile on my face.

"It's done, hopefuly two shifters will meet us at the docks"

She nods and turns away.

"While the moonlight still shines on me I will channel even more of its' magic into the barrier, hopefuly that will slow them down a little"

Pale light surrounds Kris as she gathers the last of the moon's rays too her. After the moon disapears completely behind the blue mountains she swirls the magic around her in a silver ball before angling her hands out the western window and mentally releases her hold. A silver beam shoots from her outstretched hands to hit the barrier two kilometres away in the middle of the sea. A light panic settles in my body.

"What if they saw the beam, it would give us away"

Kris laughs but continues to concentrate on her task.

"Stop panicing, if they are outside the barrier they can't see it only those within can see the beam"

I nod feeling only slightly reasured, then I feel a small tug on my mental link. It was Thomas.

Debra! Debra!

Yes?

I found the shifters and they are on their way to the docks now.

Ok, thank you.

Everything ok, it's not too big of a deal right?

Yeah, not to big, it's just an armarda invading.

What!

Not a big deal, we have it all under control.

You're panicing, I can feel it through the sibling bond.

The queen is working on her plan and I trust her.

That's not what you said yesterday.

Forget about what I said yesterday, it's irrelevent now

Sure, whatever you say, sis

See you soon, and please don't tell anyone, we don't want anyone to panic

Ok, see you soon.

My eyes focus back on Kris who was just finnishing the barrier.

"That should hold for a few hours"

I nod my head and look out to the fog covered sea. The moonlight barrier shimmers slightly in the new dawn light.

The shapeshifters are on their way to the docks. If by some miricale this plan works then I will forever be greatful that Krissa is queen.

...

The docks are busy as we walk along the wooden boards. The fisherman having already caught their catches and were setting up store, preparing for a day of prosperous trade.

Krissa's skirts swirl around her, the grey sleek gown a contrast to the old washed out brown boards of the docks. Even though everyone was busy going about their morning preparations they still stopped to bow or curtsey as we past. Krissa acknowledged most of them with a nod of the head or a quick goodmorning. I on the other hand stopped to say a quick hello to those I knew before catching up.

When we leave the bustling front of the docks Krissa leans in to talk to me.

"I don't understand, why do they seem so happy to see me, I'm a really bad queen, no where near what my parents were."

I give a quick laugh.

"You represent hope, they can see the fog, they know what it represents and here you are with your weather power to vanquish whatever bad things might come."

She smiles breifly before a worried look crosses her face.

"What if my plan doesn't work?"

"I would tell you it's going to work but you haven't told me."

A guilty expression flits across her face.

"Sorry, I'm just used to being alone, surviving by myself, you know?"

I nod, Krissa has been through some really tough times, some I would never be able to comprehend. Being kidnapped and abused, loosing the only family I ever knew and then loosing my real parents just days after meeting them must be hard. Something I just can't comprehend.

"Yeah, I know"

But I try to anyway. We stop at the edge of the vister docks, it's quiet, not a soul in sight. It's the wrong time of year for visiters to venture to our secluded Kingdom, not enough imported trade comming in.

Out of nowhere a large seal jumps up onto the dock, Krissa and I jump back in fright. Before we even think about calling for someone the seal shifts into a young girl of fifteen. Her hair is similar to the colour of the seal's skin. This must be one of the Shifters I asked Thomas to call for. A few seconds later a wedge tailed eagle lands next to the girl and transforms into a young boy of 12. His dusty brown hair all messed up.

Thomas, out of breath, runs into view on the other side of the docks.

"My queen ... here ... are ... the ... shifters ... you ... asked ... for"

His words come out in gasps and he gestures to the children.

"Sky and sea"

"Thank you Thomas"

I walk over and help Thomas to stay upright.

"Would you care to introduce us?"
