*Hey guys, really sorry that it's been a while since I published a chapter, hopefully now that it's the holidays I can get a few more done :)*
Standing in the throne room of the palace I look at everyone gathered, not even twenty minutes ago I had given Claus the okay to call everyone here. It surprised me that they listened, I had duly noted almost a month ago that none of them wanted me to rule. I hadn't even known that I was a princess, and then I find out that my parents died so now I'm queen. Call me ungrateful and petty all you like but I really don't like being queen, it's not all elegant balls and beautiful dresses, such as it is advertised to be.
Already, a month into my reign, we've been invaded because our enemies underestimated us and are about to again. I'm not going to lie, I was looking forward to kicking ass, which would probably have my mother rolling in her grave right about now.
To celebrate our impending 'kicking ass' I may, or may not, have dressed up, only slightly. I'd changed from the sleek grey dress to grey skin tight pants with a connecting navy blue, half skirt, paired with my custom made metal armour that covers my chest, back, shoulders and arms without restricting movement. I looked like a warrior queen, if I don't say so myself, even though I didn't feel like it.
The moment that I stepped into the throne room, all conversation ceased, if I didn't know any better I would believe that the courtiers were finally respecting me, however I knew better. I knew that the only reason that they stopped talking was because of the seriousness of the matter, oh, and maybe because a Claus, even though he is like twelve, told them all to shut up. Some days I just could not understand the ways of life, not at all.
...
After Claus gets everyone to be silent I clear my throat and step forward.
"This morning has been somewhat eventful but the main issue we have is the Kingdom of Palmako's Armada."
A collective gasp travels around the room, from those who had absolutely no idea. Then the murmuring started, first from the back but it slowly increased until I could finally hear it with my own ears.
"What are we going to do, there is no way to stop them."
Someone cries out at the back.
"We are all doomed!"
Mass panic ensures, ladies cry and cling to each other or the closest lord, and the lords start yelling plans on how to evacuate and save their estates. They all selfishly thought about themselves. They continued to ramble on until I couldn't take it anymore. Using the sword that was strapped to my waist, I bang it against the closest column.
"Enough! Lords and Ladies, be quiet, settle down once more"
Slowly they start calming down and after a few minutes it is quiet enough for me to speak.
"Lords, Ladies, I have a plan"
...
After detailing my plan to the courtiers present, I head off, back to the watchtower where all the guards were keeping watch. I sidle up to one of the captains, resting my arms on the fortifications.
"Anything to report captain?"
"Nothing your majesty, they've gone quiet but don't seem to be leaving"
"Good"
The captain looks at me in surprise.
"Good? Your majesty, how is it good?"
"All in good time captain, all in good time"
I smile at him mischievously before turning around and walking across to another captain, one who has a view of the Prince's ship.
"Anything?"
The captain shakes his head but smirks.
"I believe Lady D is giving the prince a hard time, lots of yelling can be heard from the royal ship"
I laugh and clap my hand on the captains back making him tense up before relaxing and laughing with me.
"You should hear some of the things they are yelling, your majesty, no such words should be coming out of that lady's mouth."
I smirk and lean in, as if telling him a secret.
"That's Lady Debra Hale for you, an absolute storm."
The captain laughs before looking back at the boats where the humour visibly disappears from his face.
"I hope you really do have a good plan, your majesty, because I will bet my life that the prince of Palmako will not give in so easily, not when their armada is so powerful."
I shake my head before following his gaze. The crew of the three ships are running around, preparing the ship for attack and the soldiers themselves were preparing their weapons. It didn't look like the armada was going anywhere.
"Game on, Marco, game on"
