Flashback to 7 years ago.
Eddie waited patiently near the school gates for his mother to arrive. It was cold that day, but Eddie was dressed well. He wore a large, warm jacket with a fluffy scarf, warm pants and boots.
His father had work off, so Eddie knew he'd be able to spend even more time with him, this got him excited. As he awaited, he watched other children picked up by their parents, while some of his friends sat next to him chatting. Little by little, his peers had left and there he sat alone, intentionally exhaling fog in the cold.
Soon, his mother pulled over and called for him. With a big smile on his face, he stood by while his teacher opened the gate, and quickly dashed to the car.
"Mommy! I missed you." He started." "What happened? I was all alone here." Eddie mentioned. "Yeah, yeah. Get in, Eddison." she sighed.
His mother, Erika Norris, unlocked the car door allowing Eddie to jump into the car. Once Eddie entered, he saw his brother, Noah sat right across from him.
"Hi." Noah whispered, looking out his window. "Hey Noah! How was your day?" Eddie grinned and got in. He shut the door and put in his seatbelt.
"It was good..." he mumbled.
Noah was always a shy little boy to everyone he encountered, Eddie adored him a lot. "That's great, Noah! My day was awesome." Eddie put on his seatbelt, as he exclaimed. Erika started driving.
"Mommy, we got our report cards today. Will you read it when we get home?" Eddie asked almost shouting. "You're hurting my head. Remember when I told you to be quieter, Eddison?" she recalled.
"Yeah! I'm very sorry." he put a finger to his lip, shushing himself.
"Yes, I'll read it. Don't worry." Erika smiled with irritation.
"Thank you."

They arrived home, and the car stopped and unlocked. Eddie yanked his back pack from the seat and got out of the car. He ran over to Noah's side and knocked on his window to let him know he'd be helping him out.
Noah had been sleeping, and Eddie not being able to see Noah through the glass due to his height, opened the door.
Noah had been leaning on the door, he slid out and fell onto Eddie. Noah began sobbing, he had a scrape on his knee, while Eddie fell with a bleeding wound on his shin.
Eddie was hesitating on what to do next.
"Noah- I'm so so sorry!" Eddie was worried. He let his younger brother get hurt, and he didn't know what to do about it."What'd you do?!" Erika slammed her door shut and rushed over to Noah. She picked him up.
"I'm sorry mommy- He- He was- I-" Eddie stuttered in disbelief, and fear with the unbelievable look Erika had been giving him.
"Enough! I don't want to hear another word from you. Stay away from my child." his mother glared at him. He sat sprawled on the ground, tearing up. He couldn't even look at Erika, he felt too ashamed.
Eddie stayed shocked as Erika ran into the house holding Noah close to her. He began weeping and curled into a ball in front of the car.
The door to the front of the house opened once again, running out was Jonathan. "Eddie?" Jonathan walked over and crouched down.
"Dad..." he began sobbing harder. "Noah will be fine. It's just a small scrape." he pat Eddie's head. "Don't cry, buddy." Jonathan looked worried when he noticed Eddie's own wound.
"There's nothing to worry about. You're not in trouble." Jonathan reassured him. Eddie ran to his father's arms and hugged him.
"Is mommy mad?" he whimpered. "No, I said don't worry. You know how her temper is." Jonathan replied. He picked Eddie up and thought for a bit, "Remember when she screamed at me for flipping an egg wrong? Your mother is something else!" he chuckled.
