The Tides are Turning

Aaron POV

Over the next day I helped Aph learn how to hide her ears and tail. It was tough, but eventually she managed to do it.

When we weren't working on that, we were kissing, and holding each other. Wrapped snugly in a cocoon of love for each other.

But now, it was time for us to head back to the house.. we were both well aware that everyone was likely upset with us. But we had good news to share with them. We were engaged now. It didn't take long for us to collapse camp, and before I knew it we were back at the house.

Our friends were understanding, but my mom and dad were upset. So was Aphmau's mom. But her tune changed once we announced our engagement. Our friends were equally excited about the engagement, Zane even started crying, and hugged Aphmau very tightly. I even got a hug from him. The change in him since high school was drastic. But we all preferred this version of Zane.

The only people we were unable to tell were my parents and sister....

And then everything went dark again......

~One Month Later~

Aaron POV

We're now in hiding. A group known as the Guardian Forces has infiltrated Starlight. They came to the house first, caught us off guard. But we managed to make it out. Some of us were injured in the process, but we're alive, and safe. For now....

I've been clinging to Aphmau more tightly then usual, and I've noticed a slight shift in her scent. I don't know what's causing it though.... My family has also noticed it, but no one is saying anything yet. I want to get us all off the island, but I don't know how. For now we'll have to wait.

Aphmau POV

I've been feeling slightly ill in the mornings. And only in the mornings... It has me concerned. Could I be... Pregnant?! There's no way! But I have to know. So, I'm buying a test. I'm just grabbing it with the usual supply run I get. That way there's no way people could get suspicious. After stepping out of the store, I pull the test box out of the grocery bag, and put it into the pocket of my hoodie. The whole walk home, I could swear the box was burning a hole in my hoodie.

After an aggravating five minutes of trying to get Zane to open the door, I was finally inside. I handed the bag of food to KC before slipping to my and Aaron's room to hide the test. I would take it in the morning. For now, I need to act natural.

The next day came quick. And when I woke up, I took myself and the test to the bathroom. Quickly and quietly I locked the door, opened the box, and read the instructions. Once done, I did my business and peed on the stick. After putting the cap on and flushing and washing my hands, I made myself busy by brushing my teeth while I waited for the test to do its thing.

Two minutes later I put my toothbrush away and picked up the test. My breathing immediately hitched in my throat as I looked at two clear pink lines looking back at me. I was pregnant. I nearly passed out, but I kept myself upright by clinging to the counter. Might have gouged holes into the thing, but I kept myself upright. Quickly I grabbed toilet paper and wrapped it around the test and disposed of it. I also hid the box to keep it a secret for now. I didn't know what to do.. As much as I want to have children with Aaron, this is absolutely the worst possible timing for it to happen!

As long as I don't say anything for now, we can get home and then I can tell Aaron then..

~Two Weeks Later~

Aaron POV

It started as it usually does. A nightmare I had grown accustom to over the last 6 weeks. The house getting broken into by the Guardian Forces. And in the midst of it, I watched Aphmau get shot. Needless to say that it woke me up, covered in my own sweat. The sound of the love of my life softly snoring next to me. My heart rate began to slow, and I started to try and fall back to sleep. After an hour though, I was still awake, turning over, I pulled Aph into my arms, and focused in to the sound of her heartbeat to help lull me to sleep, but after a moment, I heard something else.. Something unexpected.

I could swear I heard a second heartbeat coming from her! But she can't be pregnant! There's no way!!! After getting over my initial shock, I took a deep sniff, smelling her scent, and it had changed a bit... could this be why?

Against the rapid racing of the thoughts inside my head, I managed to fall asleep... But, morning came quickly, and I was still exhausted. Next to me I heard Aph groan as she held her belly. Before I could react, she jumped up and ran to the bathroom. I followed, waiting outside the door as I heard her get sick. After a few moments, she came out. A minty scent wafting off her as she had brushed her teeth. She glanced at me and smiled, an attempt at reassuring me that she's okay.

She made her way back to our bed, and sat back down. Running a shaky hand though her hair. Moving over to her, I kneeled down, and looked her in her eyes. The depths of hers nearly rendering me unable to speak. Before I lost all ability to speak, I brought my hand up and gently touched her face. She nuzzled my hand, I didn't want to say anything, but I felt I had to.

"Aph, are you pregnant?"

Her eyes went wide, before the colour drained out of her face.

"How did you know?!"

I hope you all enjoyed this! Things will start to pick up from here! And just a heads up. As of this chapter, I am deviating from cannon story. Hope you like! Should be easier for me to get chapters out now.
