first first date (7/15)

"Wha-what?!" Jisoo exclaimed, collapsing on the bench.

"Are you okay?" a concerned Bobby approached her.

"Stay there!" Jisoo held a hand up. "What? What do you mean you like me??"

Bobby looked at his shoes again. "It means I don't see you as a rival, but someone who...well, who could be a potential girlfriend...."

Jisoo held her hands to her head, suddenly feeling dizzy. "This better not be a joke, Bobby!"

"No, it's not! I swear!"

Jisoo glared at him.

"I guess I've always liked you since we were young, but I couldn't act on it because I was conditioned to always compete with you, but now that..."

"What?"

An image of Hanbin went into Bobby's mind. NO. "Nothing. I just want you to know that I like you, and I know it'll take some time for you to process."

Jisoo started breathing heavily, holding her chest. 

"Hey, hey, are you okay? Is your asthma acting up again?" He rushed to her side, grabbing her inhaler from her bag. 

Jisoo took it grateful and took a deep breath in it. "Thank you," she gasped. She suddenly realized that she was face-to-face with Bobby. This is too close, she thought. 

"Are you all right?" he asked. 

She nodded. "Listen...what do you want me to do now?" Jisoo asked. "I don't want to worry about this, and there's Hanbin, and there's the summer festival..."

"No, no don't think about me. Just do your thing, Jisoo. I'm not demanding for anything. I just want you to know my feelings. It's up to you on what you want to do now."

Jisoo swallowed. Her throat suddenly feels so dry. 

RING RING!

Jisoo picked up her phone. "Hello, mom?...WHAT, HALMEONI WAS BROUGHT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM?...Okay okay I'm on my way."

Jisoo looks panic-stricken. "Bobby, I have to go...Halmeoni...she had a heart attack..."

Bobby grabbed her hand. "Come on, let's get you to the hospital."

HONGDAE HOSPITAL, 5:30pm

Bobby hit the brakes of his bicycle in front of the hospital entrance. Jisoo jumped off hurriedly and ran inside without a second glance or a "thank you" for Bobby. 

He looked as she ran into the hospital. She's really a good daughter and granddaughter. She's grown into a woman without me realizing. An independent, strong woman who doesn't need someone who'll treat her like a princess, but treat her like a queen, ruling her kingdom by her side.

He rode away.

EMERGENCY ROOM - HONGDAE HOSPITAL, 7pm

"Mom, the doctor said she's going to be fine. She just needs to spend a few more days here to monitor her vitals."

Mrs. Single Kim looked at her mother who's lying on the bed, sleeping. "She's becoming more and more weak, Jisoo."

Jisoo hugged her mom from behind. "She's going to be fine," she assured. "Hey, what if we take her in instead? I know she's staying with Uncle, but he has his family to worry about, and he's too busy with his work."

Mrs. Single Kim contemplated. "I do want her around me."

"And," Jisoo added. "Since you're a senior manager in the drugstore, you can take half-days off and spend more of your time around Halmeoni. We don't need to worry about me and studies since I'm on full scholarship and on a monthly allowance from the school."
