JISOO HOUSE, OUTSIDE THE GARDEN
Hanbin stopped as soon as he saw who was in Jisoo's garden.
It was Bobby, getting busy with planting while Halmeoni sat by the porch, watching him.
Jisoo saw it too. "Halmeoni, why is Bobby there?"
Halmeoni looked up. "Ah Jisoo, Hanbin! This kind young man volunteered to plant some sunflowers in the garden. Isn't that nice?"
Bobby looked up from his work, giving Jisoo a salute. Fuck, really? A salute?! Way to cool but look dumb, Bobby.
Hanbin clenched his teeth. So this is how he's going to play it.
Jisoo approached Halmeoni. "I think he's supposed to be in basketball practice right now, Halmeoni," she whispered.
"Basketball? You play basketball, Bobby?" Halmeoni asked.
Bobby smiled shyly. "Yes, Halmeoni."
Hanbin raised an eyebrow. He's calling her Halemoni now?
"Don't be modest, Bobby. He's actually the captain," Jisoo added.
"Captain? My, that is impressive! I remember your grandfather playing basketball, Jisoo. It used to make my heart flutter, especially when he looks at me before making a shot."
"Awww, that sounds so cute and romantic, Halmeoni!"
Halmeoni turned to Hanbin. "Do you also play basketball, Hanbin?"
Hanbin opened his mouth to reply, but Bobby answered for him. "Not that much, Halmeoni. We had PE the other day and he could barely keep up. He's a good swimmer from what I heard though."
And, this Hanbin swears by, Bobby gave him a triumphant glare.
"My, my," was all Halmeoni could say before going back inside.
Jisoo accompanied her grandma, leaving Hanbin and Bobby alone outside.
"What the heck? Why on earth did you say that?" Hanbin hissed.
Bobby shrugged as he bent down to his flowers. "It's true. You could barely pass the ball."
"You know for a fact that I was playing it dumb!"
Bobby looked at him. "Oh really? I was pretty convinced that you sucked."
Hanbin inhaled to keep himself from getting angrier. "Look, I know what this is about."
Bobby stood up to face him. "What?"
"Jisoo told me you confessed your feelings to her, and now you're throwing me under the bus to gain her grandma's vote!"
Bobby didn't look surprised. "Jisoo told you huh? Well, I guess from the looks of it, she hasn't decided who she likes more between the two of us."
Hanbin didn't answer.
"Aha. It's settled, then. Whoever wins her heart is hers. Think you're up for that challenge, Hanbin?"
"Game on, Bobby."
Bobby laughed and went back to planting. "I guess I have the upperhand now, with Halmeoni liking my basketball skills and all."
Hanbin ignored him and went inside, saying his goodbyes to Jisoo and her family.
I'll show him who's better.
