HONGDAE HOSPITAL, 6pm
Hanbin parked his motorbike. Jisoo removed her helmet and handed it to him. "Thank you so much for giving me a ride," she said with a smile.
"Hey, no problem." Hanbin got off the bike and removed his helmet too.
Jisoo is confused.
Hanbin laughed when he saw her face. "What's the matter?"
"Are you coming with me?" she asked.
"Of course! It's already late, and I heard you say that you're staying at home alone - not that I'll come with you to your home!" he hurriedly added as Jisoo gasped. "What I'm saying is," he said slowly, "I want to make sure you get home safely, so I'll give you a ride home as well."
"Are you sure? This could take long."
"It's all right! There's so much to do in a hospital."
"Okay..." said Jisoo hesitantly. "If you say so."
They walked in and asked the nurse for Jisoo's grandma. While waiting for the nurse to come back, someone tapped Hanbin's shoulder.
"Hanbin yah, what are you doing here?"
He turned around.
"Mom! What are you doing here?" He looked at his mother from head to toe - why was she dressed in nurse's clothes? "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" he asked.
Hanbin's mom smiled. "I'm all right, my son. How about you? What are you doing in a hospital?"
Hanbin suddenly remembered Jisoo. "Oh yes, where are my manners. Mom, this is Jisoo, a friend from school. She's here visiting her grandma."
Mrs. Kim looked at Jisoo, then at her son. He gave Hanbin a playful wink, which Jisoo thankfully did not see. "It's nice to meet you," she said. "You are very pretty."
Jisoo laughed bashfully. "Wow, thank you!"
"Mom!" Hanbin scolded. "Don't make her feel awkward!"
Mrs. Kim waved her son away. "Oh please. I'm sure Jisoo hears it all the time." She smiled at the pretty girl again.
"What are you doing here, mom? Why are you dressed like that?" asked Hanbin again.
His mom waved at her outfit. "What do you think? I'm working here as a nurse!" She turned to Jisoo. "I used to work as a nurse here before we moved to the US. I became a housewife in Los Angeles, but now I'm divorced I'm so excited to work again! Thank God they accepted me again, despite my age."
Jisoo smiled widely. "That's so nice to hear, Mrs. Kim. My mom is a working single mom too. She works as a senior manager in a drugstore in the middle of Hongdae."
"That's so nice! We should meet each other so I know where to find my medicines. But don't call me Mrs. Kim - that was my husband's surname. Call me Ms. Young."
"Haha, all right, Ms. Young."
Ms Young smiled. Such good manners. "Oh, what am I doing? What's the name of your grandma, dear?"
"Kim Moon Chae, ma'am."
"You mean, Kim Moon Chae, that nice old lady with silver hair? Oh, your mom is the one that stayed with her all day!"
Jisoo's eyes lit up. "Yes, exactly!"
"Come on, I'll show you to her room."
They started to walk. "Your mother tells me that you're a straight A student, top of your class!" Ms. Young chatted as they walked.
