Appetite
Chapter 15
Lexie's POV
Derek left a little while ago because he had to go check on some post OP patients. He told me he'll try to come by again when he gets the chance. It nice of him to visit me, but it also made me nervous. Now five people in the hospital know about me. Chief Hunt, Meredith, Cristina, Derek, and Mark. I feel like by the end of the day, the whole hospital is going to know that I'm here as well as why I'm here. For the first time in days, I'm actually hungry and I want to eat. I page a nurse. Within a minute, she's in my room. I read her name tag, which says that her name is Darcy. "I'm sorry to bother you, I'm a little bit hungry. Could you bring me some food?" She smiles at me. "Here's a menu. Look it over and pick out what you would like." I scan the menu quickly and notice that they have pizza. "I'll have two slices of cheese pizza, a bag of potato chips, and some iced tea." She nods. "Coming right up."
20 minutes later...
Darcy finally shows up with my food and god does it look amazing. Normally hospital food is pretty crappy, but my meal looks like it's going to be freaking amazing. I smile at Darcy. "Thank you. I think this food will do some good considering the fact that I haven't eaten in days." She nods in agreement and walks off. Before she does, she shouts "If you want anything else, feel free to page me." I shout back. "Okay Darcy." I devour my food and within minutes it is gone. I tell myself that I shouldn't get anymore, but I already have the pager in my hands. Darcy comes running into my room. "I see you've finished your food and I'm assuming that you want some more." I nod my vigorously and she laughs. "What do you want?" I look over the menu again. "I would like a bowl of chicken noodle soup and some apple juice." She nods and walks out of the room.
15 minutes later....
My second round of food is ready. As soon as Darcy puts it down on my table, I devour it. Within 5 minutes, the soup is all gone and I'm over halfway done with my juice. I place the empty dishes off to the side. A sudden yawn escapes from my mouth signaling that sleep is about to wash over me. I lie down under the covers and close my eyes. Within 5 minutes, I'm in a deep sleep.
