Lisa smiled as Jisoo wearily walked behind her. "Are you sure...this...is where Dongpyon hangs out," the older woman asked.
"Yep. I know it's kinda ratty looking, but you get used to it," Lisa explained. Jisoo cringed when they walked up the litter filled driveway to the shack's thumping door.
"Are you sure this will be fun?"
"Yep," Lisa said. "Thank you for coming with me, Chichu. I really appreciate you apologizing for investigating Dong." Jisoo grinned lightly and nodded her head as Lisa knocked on the damaged front door of the...party.
The apology came six months after Lisa stormed out of her apartment with her boyfriend pocketing the syringes. It was an empty apology that Jennie had largely written for her because she couldn't bring herself to pretend to be sorry.
Someone opened the door a crack, studied Lisa for a moment, and opened the door wide. "Hurry, hurry," he said quickly. Lisa put her hand on Jisoo's back and pushed her through the front entrance next to the guy who opened the door. The Korean woman immediately wanted to leave. The man who opened the door just looked like a meth head with disheveled hair, sweat-stained clothes, and a possible vomit stain on his shirt. Sores erupted on his skin like something was trying to push its way out and he seemed unable to keep still. "Pyon's in the kitchen," he said in a drowsy voice before stumbling off down the hall.
Jisoo surveyed the room with a disgusted expression while Lisa tugged on her hand to lead her to the kitchen. People were laying around on old furniture that looked about five years too late to replace. Plastic red cups were strewn around the room along with a few condom wrappers, cigarettes, blunts, white powder, and syringes. Lisa didn't take part in this, did she?
"Lisa," Jisoo called uncertainly. "Why are we here?"
"Dong and I always come here on the weekends. It's fun, I swear!" Lisa jumped on her boyfriend as soon as she saw him standing in the kitchen talking to a living Tweak. Dongpyon looked almost normal compared to everyone else. His shirt was clean and unwrinkled, as were his jeans. The only thing that was off was the little red pinpoints on the inside of his elbows. He hadn't quit. And Lisa didn't care.
Jisoo stood with her arms crossed in the corner of the living room with a bubbling stomach. The smell of sweat, vomit, and piss whirled together to make a stomach-churning stench that stung the nostrils and watered the eyes. Lisa and Dongpyon had disappeared a few minutes into the party, leaving the Korean girl alone in this drug den. A bong circle had formed about three feet away from her, adding to the disgusting smell in the air.
The black-haired woman had already called Jennie to pick her up and was just waiting to get the text for her to flee. Still, Jisoo didn't want to leave without telling Lisa, just in case she was sober enough to notice.
"Lisa," Jisoo called as she dodged high and drunk people as she wove her way through the house. The shack just got worse the farther you went in. Holes and cracks in walls, mystery stains on the...everything. Trash, needles, puddles, and used condoms littered the floor. Jisoo just knew she was going to have to throw away the boots she was wearing because of the nastiness on the ground.
