Chapter 11

Making their way to the pub Mark turned his head as he heard the sound of screams coming from the same direction as they were headed. Nervous laughter filled the air moments later and they all laughed.

"That will be the Haunted walk" Gary said as they walked along. "The Butcher was trying to get us along, but I didn't want to sign us up for anything without you guys choosing, so I said maybe next year."

"Shame" Howard said "Sounds like fun. Never mind, like you said we can always head down next year"

Opening the door to the pub they stepped inside and found the Landlady grinning at them again as they reached the bar.

"welcome back gentlemen. I'm happy to see you here again, if your quick the corner tables still free again. Same round as last night?" She asked already reaching for the glasses.

"yes please" Gary said as the others nodded back at him. I think im going to like this place quite a lot" smiling back at her.

"Glad to hear it" She said passing their drinks across. It was times like this she wished she could tell people they were here, but knowing how much they liked their privacy she couldn't risk what would happen if others found out.

Slowly the pub filled up with people ready to enjoy themselves. The music that night was all Halloween related and they laughed at people tried to reenact dance routines from music videos.

They had noticed the group from the night before. It seemed they were taking it a little easier than they had previously, as they themselves also did. The conversation at the bar had turned to the Ghost walk and whose reaction had been best at the end. Gary noticed as the girl from the woods, laughed as they pointed their group out. Turning his head towards the land lady he saw a small smile on her lips as she walked to the end of the bar and spoke to a gentleman reading the paper. Quietly he stood up and left the pub returning a few minutes later.

A few hours later they headed back to the house, deciding to check out the TV for a good film and leave the rest of the village to enjoy the rest of the night.

Back at the house Gary turned on the TV and Mark searched for a movie channel. Dropping the remote he reached under the table to feel for it. His hand brushed across a piece of card, he pulled it out and turned it over, reading what looked like an invitation.

"Gaz, what's this mate?" He said passing it over as he entered the room.

"I'd forgotten all about that" He replied as Howard leant over his shoulder to read it for himself.

"We should go to that. Could be tacky could be a great laugh" Howard said taking a seat.

"Its tomorrow though and it says you need to be in fancy dress" Gary said "don't know about you, but I don't have many fancy dress costumes just hanging around"

"We passed a town a few miles back, surely they will have a fancy-dress shop?" Mark said already googling fancy dress shops nearby.

"Okay, okay, lets see what we can find" He said giving in and looking into costumes himself.

Lexi and the girls headed back to the cottage, the difference this evening is that none of them were weaving up the road after switching to soft drinks earlier in the evening.

Opening the door Lexi found Lucy sat at the door, a silver envelope in her mouth, tail wagging at bringing her a gift. Gently taking the envelope from her jaws she opened it up to find an invitation to the Scare fest the following night.

"I don't believe it" She said turning around "We've been invited to that secret scare fest I told you guys about."

"oooooh how fun" Rachel said reaching for the invitation and reading it herself.

"Says we need fancy dress" Carlotta said reading it too.

"shopping trip" Marina said starting to google fancy dress to see what she would like to wear.

The next hour was spent finding near by places and checking out their costume ideas. They wanted rough ideas, so they didn't have to spend hours deciding.
