Sitting down to eat that afternoon the girls started to wonder what lay ahead for them on the Haunted walk. A knock on the door earlier had produced a map and instructions for them to follow, along with their start time. It looked like it was going to be very fun and they really looked forward to it.

Starting to get ready the house was filled with a buzz of nervous excitement. From the kitchen window Lexi could see people walking across the field with pumpkin lanterns as they started their own Haunted walk times. It was great to see so many people taking part, it really was going to be fun.

As they finished with their simple outfits they checked the time and headed for the back door. Each picking up a pumpkin lantern they flicked the switch to turn them on. Lucy had watched them all leave and in a huff at being abandoned for another evening and headed back to the front room and her favorite spot in front of the fireplace.

The light had faded so much that the lanterns they carried actually helped them see where they were glowing even though they only gave off a soft glow around them. Walking to the end pf the street, they were met by a figure dressed all in black carrying a large walking stick.

"Goooooodddddd Evvvveeeniinnnnggggg" The man said in a creepy voice, which made them start to giggle. "Welcome to the walk of the dead. Laughter is not permitted here; the dead do not find anything funny!. You will start from here and head to the first spot on your map. Take care, beware and above all don't lose your head, or each other"

Turning around with his back to them he stood silently still until they made their way around the corner to their next spot. On each part of the map they were given a story about the each building they stood in front of, none of it true but they had made such an effort it was great fun. From the headless baker to the ghostly goings on in the market place.

As they moved on from house to house they came to the tea rooms at the end and found another figure lurking outside. Knowing they were nearing the end they were disappointed at how quick it had seemed to have gone. Approaching the figure, they clung to each other not knowing what was going to happen now.

"Ahhhhhhh more victims" He said as they closed the gap between them. "I'm surprised to see you all made it to the end, what a shame. Never mind though we can't keep you all anyway. Take the path to the right if you dare, for it is full of terror, do be careful" Again this figure turned its back on them and they looked to where he had previously pointed.

An alleyway stood on front of them, cobwebs had been strewn along the fencing and little lanterns had been hung from branches. Walking through they realized they could hear the pub ahead of them and smiled to themselves as they still headed in that direction. As they reached the end they could see two large trees looming above them, stepping through they screamed as two figures jumped at them from behind the trees. Laughing uncontrollably, they hung on to each other as the figures laughed at their reaction.

Walking the short distance to the pub they walked in to the sounds of thriller playing in the background, the lights were dimmed to create an eerie atmosphere, keeping up the theme from their walk.

Finding the landlady in the same spot as the night before they ordered their drinks as she chatted away to them.

"So happy to see you ladies again. I hope you enjoyed last night? Did you do the walk this evening?" She asked as she poured wine into several glasses.

"We did" Lexi replied "on both counts, it's been great"

"are you visiting?" She enquired looking at the girls

"No" Lexi answered" I moved here a few months ago, so the girls are down to visit with me"

"Ahhhh i see" She said. " Quite a few new people have been seen recently. I hope you like it here, we love our little village. Did you move into the Turner cottage?"

"Yes, that's the one. I've always lived near here and fell in love with it as soon as I came to see the house" Lexi said smiling

"The area seems to keep getting better and better" she said winking as she went to serve another customer.

"Shes lovely" Jackie said as they picked up their drinks and headed into the other room.

Warming up they enjoyed the atmosphere in the pub and took it easy than the night before.
