Kicking off her wellies as she had done a few times that day, Lexi headed into the kitchen once more and poured herself a cup of tea. carrying it through to the living room she had closed the curtains against the night that had rapidly descended.
Sitting in her favorite chair she sat stroking Lucy's head as she placed it lightly on her lap.
Front the kitchen she could hear a light wrapping sound, that seemed to be coming from the back door. As she made her way through she could also hear what sounded like a branch catching against the window, no trees were near the property so she had no idea what was making the noise. As she reached for the door handle, a noise from the living room caught her attention and she doubled back as Lucy stood up and turned her head to the noise she had heard too.
From all sides she could hear taps and scrapes across the windows and doors, head turning in each direction she fought to keep herself calm, the noise too much to take. From the direction of the kitchen she could see a light shining through the glass penetrating the curtains. As she quickly ran over she pulled back the curtains and screamed at the face pushed against the glass. Hand on her chest she swore loudly as she found Leanne dancing around outside the window, a torch held in her hand.
From outside she could hear laughter and opened the door to find all her friends doubled over, finding themselves hysterical, not one of them could speak. More came around the corner of the house laughing as much as the others.
Composing themselves both Leanne and Liz looked up and shouted "Supriseeeeee! Happy Halloween" before falling back into more giggles.
Unable to help herself she joined the laughter, looking down at Lucy who currently had her head attached to her knee, wondering what all the noise was about
Walking over she hugged each of them, excited that they were a day early. Helping them into the house with their luggage she showed them where they would be staying for their trip and headed back into the kitchen to put some wine bottles into the fridge for later.
Turning around she saw Leanne walk into the kitchen a big grin still on her face. "Are you happy with the surprise" she asked taking a chair from under the table and sitting down.
"Of course, I am, I'm so happy I get an extra day with you all. You nearly gave me and Lucy a heart attack though, I thought my heart was going to pop out of my chest" She laughed pulling up a chair opposite her.
"We couldn't help ourselves Lex" Liz said joining them, followed by Lucy who had calmed down somewhat as she recognized the people surrounding her.
"I must admit it was funny. I thought I was going mad for a moment, I think Lucy did too" She said laughing again.
"Right important question" Jackie said walking into the room, "I'm starving what we doing for food?"
"There's a pub down the road, that does lovely food. I think you guys would love it. If I'm honest I'm not in the mood to cook tonight" She said as the others headed into the kitchen.
"oh god no, no one's cooking tonight" Phoebe said
"Grab your coats girls, were off to the pub" Jackie shouted as she turned from the room to pick up her own coat.
Walking down the path, they turned right at the road and walked down the hill into the town. Passing the buildings Lexi pointed out each one and gave them a brief description of what they were. Reaching the end of the road, they turned into the pub and made their way towards the bar.
Ordering their drinks, they moved to a table further into the room and picked up the menu, quickly deciding on their food, they placed their order and started catching up with each other.
