Your POV

"You know when you're drowning you don't actually inhale until right before you black out. The instinct to not let any water in is so strong that you won't open your mouth until you feel like your head is exploding." Thomas told me, his gaze lowering to look at the ground.

"Thomas, I don't mean to be rude, but what does this have to.." I found myself being cut off by the curly-haired man.

"That's how I feel everyday. I fight and I fight, and I fight, just over and over again. Nothing ever works. Then I have to give in.. and the consequence of giving in? Tch.. I'm beaten, criticized, mocked, laughed at, and told I'll never be nothing." He raised his head to meet my e/c eyes. "Are you going to do the same thing?"

"Are you like them?"

"Are you just here to mock?"

"Do you actually care.... or are you something you're not? And instead you're just here to make yourself feel better."

A dry laugh left Thomas' chapped lips, and he swiped his tongue over them to moisten them up. "Maybe you're like everyone else, hm? Is this a pity party?" His eyes seemed to darken and I felt myself swallow a lump in my throat.

I go to speak but he turns away. "Just leave me alone if that's what your here to do. You taunt me with the way you speak." I shake my head, "Thomas I'm here to help you. And I genuinely care about your well being. These aren't conditions you or any person should be living in." I reasoned, noticing him take a glance at me. "If you need some time to yourself, however, I understand."

There was a silence for a few moments before he spoke again.

"Don't leave. I.. I... please, I need you." His voice came out as a whimper and honestly, it made my heart wrench.
