Chapter Ten (UPDATED)

"Oh my god, you're so funny Dr. McCoy" Jenny's giggles filtered all the way over to the other side of Med Bay, Lex looking up at the sound, stifling a snort of laughter and having to rapidly drop her gaze to avoid collapsing into hysterics at the expression of pure bewilderment on Bones' baffled face.

As Lex watched surreptitiously over the top of her PADD Jenny continued to giggle and flirt outrageously with the Doctor, who didn't seem to know what to do or where to look. He alternated between complete incomprehension to looking at Lex with "help me eyes" whenever she happened to catch his eye. Over the course of the morning, she'd more than perfected a wide eyed "what's the matter?" look in response, which was clearly driving him as nuts as the flirty young nurse.

"Jesus, could she be any more obvious" Nurse Fletcher muttered from behind her.

Turning Lex smirked "I almost feel bad for her"

"Don't" she responded darkly.

Jenny had been on board ship just two weeks, and in that time had managed to alienate every single nurse in Med Bay. At the end of the day, they were medical professionals on a Star ship, they were battle hardened and used to dealing with extremes on a regular basis. Not to mention putting up with Dr. McCoy who could test the patience of a saint.

To put it mildly, neither the nursing staff nor the doctors tolerated fools gladly. The new nurse had even managed to upset the usually mild mannered and unflappable Nurse Fletcher, to the point where she'd nicknamed her the blonde bimbo.

"If she giggles one more time, I'm going to stab her with a hypo, just to get some peace and quiet" she threatened through gritted teeth.

Lex grinned at her over her PADD "Go for it Jane, I'll look the other way"

"How is this not bothering you more? Look at the way she's all over your boyfriend" Jane waved an impatient hand in their general direction. They both looked over in time to see Jenny accidentally on purpose brush against Bones with her ass as she squeezed past him "Whoops" she giggled again.

"That does it" Jane snapped grabbing a hypo and starting towards her.

"Woah there!" Lex chuckled, dragging her back and wrestling the hypo from her fingers.

"Seriously why haven't you killed her yet? even if you don't care, put me out of my misery. I'm begging you" Jane whined, relinquishing the hypo begrudgingly.

"You wanna know why she doesn't bother me?" Lex asked, dropping her voice conspiratorially and motioning for Jane to come closer.

Jane stepped forward curiously, leaning in to listen.

"Look at Dr. McCoy" they both looked at him, blushing furiously as the nurse placed a hand on his arm and giggled again "He doesn't know what to do with himself, its fricking hilarious!" Lex snorted with laughter, as Bones sent her another pleading glance.

Jane stepped back a shocked look on her face "You're evil" she admonished, her mouth hanging open.

Lex shrugged "He's a big boy, he can look after himself"

Another loud giggle drew their attention once more, this time she'd "accidently" tripped and fallen right into his arms. Being the southern gentleman he was, he'd automatically caught her, but was now having trouble extricating himself from her grasping hands.

"Well, don't come crying to me when it all gets out of hand" Jane commented sagely.

"It's all good" Lex chuckled, returning to her workstation behind the partition smiling to herself.
