Jamie's POV
As I walked up the concrete steps to the entrance of my school, I heard people laughing and snickering as they saw me walk by. "Look, lads! It's Jamie McPrissy!" They gawked at me. "Please, I would appreciate if you would stop." I said assertively. "You think you're smarter than us, huh?"
"I-I didn't say that!" I said backing up as they closed in on me. As if the heavens knew I was in trouble, the bell rang and everybody ran off to class. I breathed a sigh of relief. I ran to my class and sat my self at my desk. I fondled with my pencils while Mrs. Edison taught.
Just then a piece of paper hit me. Then another. I raised my hand and opened my mouth to tell Mrs. Edison but one of the lads next to me whispered, "Y'know, McPrissy. Snitches get stitches." Then he quietly snickered. I put my hand down and sighed.
After class I went to my locker to put my textbooks away when I bumped into one of the school-boys. I panicked. I just knew he was going to beat me senseless. "Oh, my apologies, Miss..?" He said with a questioning look. He wasn't like the other boys, also I hadn't seen him before so he must've been new to the school. "Jamie, my name is Jamie." I said in reply.
"Well, Jamie. Would you mind giving me directions to the science class?" He asked politely. "Oh, yes. Down the hall second door to the right." I answered with a smile. "Oh, thank you. By the way I'm George, George Harrison, that is. Erm, good rest of your day." He said running off to his class.
I was happy to have someone in this school that won't make fun of me. Or maybe it's just a trick. There is one other person I know in this school, his name's Ivan. He's nice. Friendly, but definitely a mischievous teenage bloke. He's great to have around because he can talk to you and still get the other boys away with a quick flick of the head.
When I got home I saw my father sitting in his chair and reading his newspaper. Next to him a cup of coffee in his favorite mug. "Hello, father." I said giving him a peck on the cheek. "Hello, sweetheart." He said looking up at me with a smile. "How was school today?" He asked. "It was as it always is." I sighed. "So it was okay?" He asked. "Yes," I lied. "It was fine."
I had never told my father about the taunting or the bullying. I figured there wasn't really much to be done about it. So I kept it secret. I went into my room and sat on my bed, suddenly the phone rang. I picked it up. "Hello?" It was Ivan "Hey, Jamie. I was wondering if you would like to come with me to see my friend John's band tomorrow at 7:00? They're pretty great." He asked.
"Well... I don't know, Ivan..." I said nervously. "Come on, you'll love 'em! They play Elvis and Buddy Holly and everything you gotta come!" He pleaded. "Oh," I groaned. "Alright, then." "I'll pick you up tomorrow, bye!" He said. I hung up the phone. I was nervous about going out the next day, I was sure everyone from my school would be there. But, I didn't have anything to do the next day so... Oh, I guess I'll have to!
The next evening I got ready for the show. I puffed my hair on the top into a mellow but fashionable bouffant. I put on pixie pink lipstick and pastel blue eyeshadow, a beautiful knee length yellow dress and some black heels. I looked rather fetching, if I do say so myself. Ivan came and picked me up and we headed on our way.
