i lean against his shoulder
mumble
"i'm a little sleepy"
and trip over my own two feet
as he moves
and i groggily attempt
to move with him
we leave the dance and i stop
take off my heels
to walk barefoot down the street
he takes my heels from my hand
and takes my hand too
kisses it and says
"i love you"
we make it to the house
after a slow, sleepy walk
and i collapse into a chair
close my eyes for a second
and mumble again
"i'm a little bit tired"
he gives me a smile and shakes his head
says "you need to go to sleep"
finds a blanket
without my saying a word
softly kissing my forehead
as he wraps it around my shoulders
we go outside and i apologize
saying "sorry i'm so tired"
he says "don't worry babe, it's okay. just sleep"
i fall asleep with my hand on his chest
and he wraps the blanket tighter around me
kisses me on the forehead again
"i love you"
time to leave
he takes my heels to carry them
holds my hands for stability
as i sleepily walk towards the door
eyes slowly shutting
he takes my bag and puts the shoes inside
zips it up and puts it on my shoulder
then there's my ride
and the nights last kiss
and the nights last
"i love you"
left on his doorstep.
