WHEN MY MOM GETS HOME from work, she hands me the envelope that contains the money. "Thanks, Mama," I reply, getting up on my tippy toes and kissing her cheek.

I put the envelope in my purse and turn to Colby. "You want go by your mom's house and pick the money up?" I ask, cocking an eyebrow.

"Sure," he answers. "That way we'll be able to leave tomorrow and go ahead and start shopping."

"Okay."

When we arrive at his mom's house, we go inside and find Kimberly sitting on the couch, watching TV. "Hi, Mom," Colby replies. "Do you have the money?"

"Yes," she answers.

She grabs the envelope from her purse and hands it to me. "Thank you," I reply, taking it from her.

"You're welcome. Happy I can help."

I put the envelope in my purse. "Well, Mom," Colby replies, "we better get going. We'll talk to you later."

Kimberly gives each of us a hug and a kiss on top of the head.

As we drive back to my mom's house, we listen to Butterfly Kisses by: Bob Carlisle. By the end of the song, I'm in tears. "Baby, how come you're crying?"

"Because I wish Milo was like that. But, no, he's not. Instead he's an ass who abuses anything that pisses him off."

"But Augustine isn't mean to you or Korey. Augustine loves you two."

"I know," I answer, sighing. "I know you're going to be like Augustine towards our daughter."

"I am," he replies, smiling at me.

When we pull in my mom's driveway, we climb out and enter inside.

We find my mom sitting at kitchen table, eating a bowl of noodles. "Mom, you don't have to eat that. Colby can make us dinner. When's Augustine going to get home?"

"He's working late," she replies. "And I'm fine eating this bowl of noodles. But thanks for offering."

I turn to Colby. "Babe, can you make me dinner?"

"Sure," he answers. "What do you want?"

"Hm. Make me some noodles."

He sighs before chuckling. "Okay."

I give him a small smile and then sit down at the kitchen table with my mom. "So, when are you and Colby moving into this apartment?"

"Within the next week, possibly. We only have two and a half months until we adopt Cassidy. So we want to be moved in and settled into the apartment, when we bring her home."

"I still can't believe you two are adopting. How are you going to do senior year?"

"The principal at school is going to let me do my senior year online. So, hopefully by May of next year, I'll have enough credits to graduate and get a degree."
