I woke up groggily to the sound of a thunder and sirens. It wasn't a tornadoe siren, but a police cars siren. Elizabeth rushed in and was now dragging us to the basement.

"I don't want to go" I pleaded quietly. Rain pitter-patted on the window and I could see the police man walking up to the door. All I had to do was run out and I'd be saved!

"I'm not letting you go, your my baby and they'll take you away" she hissed, and began to tug harder. I felt a shock to my back and the next thing I knew I was being carried down the basement stairs like an old, dirty ragdoll. I was dropped on the cement floor quite roughtly. Above I heard the sound of boots squeek and tap on the floor. The other children, besides us who weren't brainwashed wore expressionless faces. 'Perfect masks' I thought. It wasn't  until later did we hear the car drive away and Woody call us up.

"I want your a** outside! Get that wood in!" Woody ordered. In a long shirt and blouse us girls picked up the wood along side the boys who were in nothing but shorts and battered old t-shirts.

"Pa, this isn't fair" William complained as he carried in the heavy, damp wood.

"Don't complain boy!" Woody yelled at him. William was knocked down by Woody's cruel fist, and then made to stand back up. My chest hurt with each breath and my arms ached from the heavy labor of carrying the many large logs. I kept going for fear of being beat also.

"s-sis" Williams teeth chattered as he spoke.

"What?" I snapped without meaning to. Gingerly he took the log out of my arms and carried in for me. There was a sharp pain in my back that nearly cause me to fall to my knees. The pain was excrutation. Still we worked until the logs were in and then began some kind of procedure. They were measuring our bodies, examining hair, and mummbling words "trash" or "perfect"

It made me extremely nervous. I was scared out of my wits, too.

"Well this has been fun" Bill laughed. If only he knew what was to come though.

"Yes it was brother, indeed it was" William agreed. I shook my head disappointinly.

"Do you think the police will be back?" Joan asked me. I looked at her with sad tired eyes before shaking my head.

"So we'll run" said a voice. Samuel and David stood behind us. I nodded my head in agreement. William and the others were beyond help now. A shame to say, but it's true. We crept through the silent house. The only noise was the thunder and rain outside. I slowly turned the nob and eased the door open.

"Where are you going?" asked a shrill, excited voice. We whirled around to face Elizabeth and Woody. Fear pumped through my veins.

"Ma, Pa please don't hurt them!" I heard Joey beg. I was shocked to hear our original kidnapper plead for our saftey. Woody didn't listen though, instead he smacked Joey hard across the face. Elizabeth bolted forward and grabbed Lily.

"Run! Just leave!" she cried helplessly.

"Lily!" Joan cried. We dragged Joan out of the house. Tears streamed down my face along with the cold rain. I felt bad for Lily, but if we could get help quick enough she would be okay. I willed for my legs to work faster. Behind me I heard loud yelps from Joan, David, Samuel, and Amynda who was running now.  'She's right there I know it!' I thought as I kept running.

"What a naughty girl you are" I her mocking voice snicker and then an zap to the back of my neck. It felt like I'd been zapped with static or something. The last thing I saw was Elizabeth holding what appeared to be a tazzor.

When I woke up I sat on a seat of metal and wood. My eyelids fluttered opened and I blinked away the sweat that was dripping off my forehead.

"Why's it so hot" I muttered and licked my now cracked lips. I started to stand when I realized my hands and legs were tied.

"Its allright baby-cakes" Elizabeth told me as she stacked a large bungle of wood in front of me. I frowned in confusion. Where was I? I looked around to see everyone all in the same situation, tied up. My eyes widened in realization. I was sitting on a metal tray, and above my head was the chimeny, and we were in the burner. I started to scream only to find a gag in my mouth. Something was tossed in beside me. A jelly-like sack filled with oil. As soon as a flame reached it, it would set the place ablaze.

"Mama! Pa!" William, Bill, and Bryce cried like frightened children.

"Goodnight children" Pa whispered as he dropped the match closets to me. I began to chew at the tough ropes that kept me tied up. I chewed and furiously tried to rub the rope against the metal in hopes it would cut. It was cutting as slow as the flames were begining to lick the bundle of nearby wood. The flame was growning, licking quickly at the wood just as my rope snapped. I untied the poorly tied bands around my ankles and set over to the others. There was a loud whoosh as the bundle of fire caught aflame and began to spread. If it traveled down the line of wood to the oil-bag we were fried, literaly. So far I had Lily, Joan, David, and Samuel untied. I left the four remaining to be untied by the others. I just had to get that oil out. The large fireplace was large enough to stand in, so I ran towards it. The flames were spreading so fast now. Smoke filling the air making it hard to breath. Outside the fireplace Woody and Elizabeth sat watching, sipping tea or beer. 'Sick people' I thought utterly disgusted.

Bill, Bryce, and William seemed to be in a stunnded condition now. It appeared that Suzan had woken from the brainwashing thank goodness. I kicked the bag away just as the flames licked a bit of it. There was a loud explosion and I was thrown back against the brick wall. I heard cries outside the fireplace as now the house was flaming. The momment I moved pain flared all over. My skin was a bright red color. I'd been burned pretty badly and now my chest was hurting from the smoke.

"Raven!" I heard William call.

A piece of wood was kicked aside and I felt strong arms lift me up. The touch hurt, but at least I was back up.

"Thank you" I said above the noise.

"No time, move!" he ordered. All the others were badly burnt, too.

"Your going to be okay Lily" Joan whispered to the sobbing girl. Her arm was bent at an odd angle. It was going to take a miracle for us to survive this.
