I woke up tired still, but unable to go to sleep again. I groaned unhappily at waking up to early when I was still very tired. 'Why couldn't I just stay asleep for another hour?' I asked myself. It was then I realized something terrifying. Besides the cat stalked in the shadows and the mice that raced to and fro I wasn't alone. A figure lay in the shadows, gagged and tied up. Cautiously out of curiousity I crept over. It appeared he was sleeping. I quickly untied the rope and backed away. He groaned in his sleep and began to stir.
"Aw where the hell am I?" he groaned as he started to sit up and rub his red, sore-looking wrists. He looked in my direction and gasped quietly. Quickly backing up to the wall, and looked at me with panic filled, blue eyes. His back was pressed up against the wall and he was breathing hard.
"Where am I, and what do you want with me? he demanded to know. He looked fearful and angry about being here. I wish I knew where we were also, but of course there was no way of finding out. I shrugged.
"I don't know" I answered truthfully. He looked around and hurried away to check out the two rooms. The bathroom and then the locked door. It seemed pointless since I had already checked the door and found it to be locked unfortunately. There was no escape from this place. 'trapped like rats' I thought grimly.
"It's locked you know" I pointed out, but he didn't reply though, and instead started rumaging through his pockets. He finaly pulled a swiss army knife and was fidgeting with the lock. I stood up and watched curiously and cautiously. 'He's armed, I should be carefull' I thought watching him carefully. I was doubthing he'd be able to pick the lock, but he proved me wrong. The door swung open allowing fresh sunlight to pour into the dark room. I smiled, one night of being here made sunlight look more beautiful than ever.
"Nice" I said grinning. 'Damn it, why didn't I think of picking the lock?' I scolded myself. I had a bobby pin in my hair I could of used! I was starting to feel ashamed and really stupid. 'You had a chance earlier and you blew it!' I continued sternly scolding myself.
"Whatever" he muttered with a rude tone. I rushed out the door behind him. 'Freedom!' I thought, 'fresh air!' . The house was a small, wodden cabin and we were in the middle of the woods. 'Crap I don't have the slightest clue where we are' I thought miserabley.
"Do you know where we are, hey where are you going?" I called after him, he didn't turn around though. He kept walking.
"I'll find my way home" he snapped bitterly, "I suggest you do the same, and leave me alone" he added. I was shocked at his rudeness. We're both victims of kidnapping. Shouldn't we be helping each other survive and come up with a plan to escape?
"Ugh, no need to be rude" I shot back at him. I quickened my pace to catch up. 'He sure has no manners' I thought bitterly. He didn't reply though which was making me even angry.
"HEY!" I heard a woman shot loudly. I looked back to see a lady in the window of the cabin looking at us with eyes full of red-hot furry.
"Vicky get the kids while I set the van up!" yelled a man.
"On it Joey" she replied and ran toward us. The boy cursed and took off, as did I.
"I never got to know your name" I said as we ran, ducked under low tree branches, and jumped over bushes. I jumpd over a large pit of mud, and felt some of it splatter on my boot-cut flare jeans. 'Aw... good jeans ruined by mud!' I thought sadly.
"William, you?" he asked as he ran.
"Raven" I answered. I breathed hard as we ran. Vicky was running directly behind us and still gaining speed. Swearing under her breath, huffing and puffing as she ran. I yelped as I felt her yank me back, punch me hard in the stomach and throw me into the back of a van along with William.
"No, no, no, NO!" I cried out, but something was shoved in my mouth. What ever it was it smelled foul, absolutely revolting. Beside me I heard William fighting against her, but his angry-fearfull screamings became muffled. We were both gagged with some kind of toxic chemical that knucked us out. The van started rolling just as I slipped into unconciousness.
When I awoke my head screamed at me in pain, and I found we were at a large, wood and stone made mansion. It was tall and old looking. Definetely not your modern, average house you saw in the suburbs. More like rural area, like a farm house only it's the size of a mansion. I groaned softly at the aching, throbbing sensation in my head. 'Cruel people' I thought.
"There's ma and pa" I heard Joey say. I could barely see the man and woman. The woman's face was freckled, red hair fell in loose curls, and she smiled showing off very crooked teeth. The man had broad shoulders, crooked teeth as well, and wore overalls. I groaned in pain, 'These people... th-they need a dentist' I thought dimly. My thoughts were muddled, and I could barely see or hear. I was falling asleep again when the door to the van opened an. William and I were taken inside the large house.
"It's alright baby girl, ma's here" said the woman. 'What the hell is she talking about' I wondered. I was layed down. I opened my mouth, but was unable to speak, and instead I fell asleep.
