Darryl POV
I woke up and rubbed my eyes. I looked around and saw Zak sitting on his bed. He was sitting there staring off into space. I was about to say something when I noticed that there were tears in his eyes.
I sat up and he flinched at my sudden movement.
"Good morning." He mumbled.
"Good morning." I said, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" He asked.
"No reason." I said.
"What time is it?" I asked.
He went quiet before responding, "Around 10."
"Why didn't you wake me up?" I exclaimed.
"I don't know. You seemed tired and I didn't want to be anno-" He trailed off and I frowned. "Did you eat?" I asked.
He nodded, gesturing to the empty tray next to him, "Yours is right there."
He pointed next to my bed and I grabbed the tray.
Zak POV
"Did you have a dream last night?" Darryl asked.
Yeah.
I shrugged, "Not that I remember."
It was horrible.
I had a panic attack again last night.
Thank god he didn't wake up.
"How about you?" I asked.
"I think I dreamt about muffins or something." He said.
I chuckled, of course he did.
After a few minutes of silence, I decided to start up a conversation, "So why are you here?"
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"Like why did they bring you here?" I asked.
He shrugged, "I don't really know."
"What were you doing before they took you here?" I asked him.
He shrugged again, "Nothing."
That seems a bit suspicious.
"Anyway," He said, "Do you know who runs this place?"
I ignored his question, "How are you so optimistic?"
"I just am." He replied.
"You just got kidnapped and you got ripped away from your life." I exclaimed, "How can you be so happy?"
"I don't know, okay?" He yelled.
I flinched at his tone.
I'm so annoying.
"I'm sorry," He said, "I didn't mean to yell."
"No worries." I said with a small smile.
"So," He said, "Do you know who runs this place?"
I decided to cooperate.
"I've never seen him before, but I heard of him." I said.
"What's his name?" Darryl asked.
"Vincent."
