The journey to the library was strange to say the least. Let's go with me and James aren't going to be in the top 40 anytime soon but we didn't let that stop us. It started with James humming aimlessly to the radio when he asked "Singing makes kids sleep right? Like nursery rhymes and stuff, yeah?
"Yeah" I said quizzically not quite sure where this was going. I looked away from the window to see him being very thoughtful.
"So do you think if someone sung nursery rhymes to us we'd fall asleep?"
I was baffled. I mean what are you supposed to say to that? I just sat there looking at him like he'd grown six extra eyes,he was something else. A few minutes later I thought we'd dropped the topic until he started belting out nursery rhymes ten times faster than the original. He sung Hickory Dickory Dock by himself but he wasn't satisfied with that. He somehow persuaded me to sing Insey Winsey Spider and a ton of others, promising to let me have an extra ten minutes in the library- he'd told me earlier he has to be home by three but he wanted to stop by the bakers for a cake before that and it was already quatre to two. However, he said that as I really did bring some life into nuresery rhymes he'd live without cake as long as he could have a bite of my chocolate. I agreed but I'm not sure how we got to sharing food when we've only known each other for less than half a day. What can I say? James sure does have a way with words.
Once we got to the library I was certain James would just sit there on his phone while I got some books. Oh how wrong I was! When James told me he wanted to "help" me chose some books, I had a feeling it would be pretty bad. However, I did learn that day to literally not judge a book by it's cover. There were some weird books he picked out on purpose and some, let's go with more adult books he tried to get me to read. I politely declined much to his protesting.
I was a tad shokced when James pulled out one of the first prints of my favourite novel and said "Jet you should read this, you'll love it, trust me." Now let me tell you it wasn't a common book to read and I don't know anyone other than my English teacher that has actually read it. So when he showed me the book, my respect for his choice in books went up a lot. If James hadn't shown me that book, then I probably wouldn't have decided to read a historical fiction book he told me was good. I must say though, so far it's pretty interesting. It's one of them books that you can't tell what's going to happen in the end.
Anyway, we decided to leave the library and I was happy enough. I'd done what I wanted to do but apparently James had other ideas.
"Jet?" He batted his eyelids at me.
I rolled my eyes, "yes, James?"
"Do you wanna come back to mine?"
"Errrr," I thought it was a bit soon, I mean we only met the other day and we were bearly even friends. He seemed to sense my hesitation though.
"Not like that! I mean my mum just text me and was wondering where I was. When she found out I was out with a friend she wanted to know if you wanted dinner."
I sighed in relief, "Ohhh umm I guess I could."
He flashed me a wide grin, "great! Let's go."
