"Well," his mother started, "It's the weekly, quarterly, period exam," and finished rather perfunctorily.
"The weekly, quarterly, what-erly exam?" Exasperation colored his words.
"It's the weekly, quarterly, period exam," she repeated matter-of-factly.
Jason threw up his hands, exhaling loudly. He stood up from the breakfast table. "Do you even hear yourself, mom? What kind of a school has a weekly... monthly..."
"Quarterly, period exam," she supplied, cheerfully."
"Yeah, that one. Thank you," his autonomic responses kicked in before he could stop them. He shook his head, making a growling sound. "And how is it that you know about this weird exam? I mean, what am I even supposed to study?"
"I'm so happy you asked," a smile evident on her face. She practically twirled from her chair, pulled out a whiteboard, from who-knows-where, and flipped the side to reveal a thoroughly detailed, colored-coded chart, freshly supplied with pie and bar graphs for reference.
