~Sly's POV~
I quickly arched into the sky, hoping no one would see me, the fairyflies, or the pixies. We landed on ground just as I changed back to normal from my fire form. "Is everyone ok?", I barked back to them. The three pixies, Mitria, Ezebeth, & Upomi (yes, they are all girls) were busy dusting themselves off. I rolled my eyes & sat, exhausted. Oh, hi there, dear reader. I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself when you first came to read this chapter. I am Sly, just Sly. I came to Maple Forest because of a horrible drought that came to my home forest. Our land had no name. We just called it 'home'. Mitria came up to me and said impatiently,"Can we please make camp now? I am sleepy, hungry, exhausted, and everything else that I didn't mention before!" I turned to her and replied," Ok, ok, Mitria. We just need to find shelter, or make one." Upomi and Ezebeth padded up to us. "There is no need to to gather materials to make a shelter. We can conjure one ourselves.", Ezebeth said to us. I looked at them in puzzlement. "I didn't know that pixies could do that." Mitria whipped her head over to me, her usually glossy black eyes squinting at me, filled with annoyance."Of course we can!", she snapped at me. "What did you think we did all day? Sit around in the frost, waiting for you to rescue us?"
I looked at her. "Well, yea-"
She launched herself at me, her claws unsheathed and her ears flattened. The fairyflies scattered off in directions as I landed on my back. A dust of cloud went around us as she swiped her paw at me. I quickly dodged it and threw her off.
Bad idea, Sly.
I forgot that she was a pixie, and she had the ability of flight. She stopped herself from falling with a burst of white sparkles and landed neatly on her paws. Upomi went over to her and Ezebeth came over to me.
"Are you ok? Did you get any wounds?" She quickly looked me over everywhere.
"Yes, I'm fine. You don't have to look me over." I padded over to Mitria and smiled. She mumbled something under her breath. Upomi perked her ear, but said nothing. She turned her attention to all of us. "So, about that shelter...besides, it looks like it might rain tonight." I opened my mouth and swallowed the air around me. The scent I smelled was humid, which promised rain. I turned my head towards the sky and saw gray clouds rolling towards us in the distance. "So, how are you going to make a shelter?"
Ezebeth looked at me. "Watch and learn, Sly." They got up and formed a circle. Next, they closed their eyes and focused their energy into one. All of a sudden, a blue orb was being formed. I watched in complete silence as the orb grew bigger and bigger until it flashed, and in it's place was a.........
"A rock?" I was utterly confused. How can all of us stay under a rock? I saw something flicker out of my eye and saw the three fairyflies that had flew away when Mitria attacked me. They went over the the rock and lifted it with ease. Underneath, it revealed a hole. I shook my head, now understanding. A clap of thunder made us all jump. The fur on my back was bristling as the pixies and the fairyflies dashed into the hole. I entered last and pulled the rock back in place just as the first few drops of rain came down. My fur laid flat as I turned around. "Well, that was surprising. I could've sworn those clouds were not this close a few minutes ago." I turned around to face the others. Upomi flicked her tail towards the passageway in front of us. "Come. This isn't all of it." She led us down the passageway until it stopped. "Around this corner is where we will be staying for the night." We all went around the corner and what I saw amazed me. To my left was a huge pile of fresh-kill, which made my stomach grumble. On the right was a few moss nests and a shrub. In front of us was a mini waterfall, which poured into a bubbling spring lined with grass and cattails. I could see small trout fish swimming in it. I turned towards the pixies. "This is amazing! How did you girls do this?" They all turned their heads to me. "Yes. We could do better, but it's a rainy night, so we kept it simple.", Upomi said to me. Mitria didn't say anything and Ezebeth smiled. We then feasted on the fresh-kill and some of the fish, played for a while, then got ready to sleep for the night.
I walked over to one of the nests and prodded at the moss to make it comfortable. I circled around for a few times before settling down for the night, my head resting on my forepaws. I gazed over at the pixies, who were already falling asleep. I turned my attention over to the fairyflies that were sleeping in the bush. They sparkled as they settled onto the branches. I sighed and closed my eyes. I was already feeling quite sleepy myself. Before I knew it, I was fast asleep.
