She’s not at school.
I asked around.
My friends said I’m crazy.
They said she’s a freak.
I tell them to shut up.
I drive to her house.
I knock on the door.
No one answers.
I open it.
Her mother isn’t there.
But she is.
She’s on the couch.
Her head is bleeding.
She’s asleep.
I wake her up.
She looks at me.
She doesn’t speak.
I pick her up.
I take her to the bathroom.
I undress her.
I put her in the bathtub.
I clean her.
She doesn't talk.
She just closes her eyes.
I look in the water.
Her fingers are crossed.
