"Zoe!" Julia screamed.
Her heart had almost stopped, but not caring about herself, she dashed forwards to help the fallen. Demons and forsaken swarmed around herself and Cade. Julia was blinded by a fury so strong, that her vision was tinted slightly red. A massive rush of power coursed through her, and so she released it on them. On the cursed and the damned. Wind ripped through them, literally ripped through the beasts. She drained the creatures of any liquid substances within them, leaving them to dehydrate and clawing at their throats. Then she blasted them all with strikes of lightning. For those who were still alive, she ran her sword through their bodies and sliced their heads clean off their body.
"They died too fast," Julia thought angrily, adrenaline pumping through her veins, her whole body shook with an overwhelming anger that she had never felt before.
As she scanned the fields for any survivors, her eyes fell upon Zoe. Suddenly the life was drained from Julia, all the anger, the adrenaline, and the frustration, gone. She felt herself let go of her sword. Screw the remaining beasts, they can go back to wherever they came from and hopefully burn in Hell's fire for the rest of their miserable lives.
Julia rushed to Zoe's side, frantic to help.
"Don't, touch," Zoe managed to whisper, then gasped, "Me,"
Julia looked at her, confused, "I need to help Zoe, we need to get this sword out of you, then apply pressure to it and bandage it or something I don't know, we'll figure out something!" Julia was rambling now.
Zoe managed a weak, but meaningful smile. "Always so persistent Julia, don't lose that trait, keep it for me, okay?" She asked quietly, breathing hard in between each word.
Tears welled up in Julia's eyes, she reached forwards, "No, please Zoe, don't leave us,"
Zoe shifted back away from Julia's hand, it must have taken all her effort to move and not cry out in pain. "I said don't touch me,"
"What's wrong? Why don't you want me to help?" Julia asked, desperate for answers.
"It's another curse Julia, or a gift, if you think of it in another way," Zoe gasped.
"What is it?" Julia asked, leaning forwards.
"I got it from Juliette, from the Shatter Me fandom. When I arrived, my power was the same as hers." Zoe explained, closing her eyes. "My touch is lethal. I can kill anyone just by making contact with their direct skin."
Julia gasped, "Oh Zoe," she said quietly, looking down at her hands, "I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that,"
Zoe managed to chuckle. "I deserved it anyway. Bad people always get their fate served on a cold dish,"
"But you're not bad," Julia defended, "You are all sorts of good Zoe,"
"You haven't seen what I've done Julia, don't make assumptions," Zoe said, the sentence sounded like a snap.
Julia winced, "I-"
"No don't apologize to me, I should be the one apologizing to you." Zoe cut her off mid sentence. "The most you could do for me now is get Cade over?" Zoe asked.
"Of course," Julia rushed to her feet, then going to drag Cade over.
He was so still, so pale, so fragile and weak at this moment, like the life had just been sucked from his body. Julia wouldn't blame him, after all, his parabatai just been impaled.
"Cade," Julia tugged gently on his arm. "Zoe needs you," Her voice was hushed and soft.
At the sound of the name "Zoe", Cade's eyes focused and he snapped back into reality.
