W e l c o m e  to the humble town of Sloane, population 1,453. Rosie read as her father's car passed the sign board as they entered the town. She sighed and slumped back down onto the backseat, she didn't expect that they would be moving in the middle of the year. More importanly, in the middle of her junior year. She turned up the music on her phone and dozed off, not even bothering to look out the window and sightsee.

Minutes later they arrived at their new house, she woke up with her father ushering her to get down and her little brother Tobby mentioning something about a pool. She rubbed her eyes gently and stretched, the street sign captured her attention from the windshield. primrose drive, she huffed a laugh and whispered "seriously?" before getting out of the car.

The house was not entirely small, but it wasn't exactly big. Three bedrooms, four bathrooms, a big living and family area, kitchen and dining area, a study for her father and of course a pool for Tobby to enjoy. Rosie would admit that the size of the house was perfect for their family, but everything else; not so perfect. Her father was being enthusiastic about it all, moving to a town he once lived in when he was younger, the new job at the academy, he was even excited about the drive; and it annoyed her.

Everything was doing well back at her home town, her mother lives nearby, she had school on track, she was varsity of the track team and she had her friends. She thought maybe her dad was punishing her; but she knew that despite all the negativity going on in her mind, he meant well.

"Rosie get your butt in here sweetheart, before Tobby gets dibs on the best room in the house!" her father called out from the inside, she couldn't help but laugh and followed.

She suddenly heared a noise of what sounded like metal clanging on top of each other, followed by a car horn. She looked to the house beside theirs and saw someone working on a vehicle, she shrugged and went in.

Rosie spent half of the day unpacking with Tobby and her dad. Half of first floor was done, most of the furniture was up and ready but it was still plain. Her father's books were scattered everywhere, but Rosie had always loved that about their home, it was filled with his father's knowledge. She sat on the sofa and wiped the sweat off her forehead, Tobby plopped down beside her.

"Tired?" Rosie asked, taking Tobby's feet and massaging it on her lap.

"Nah, it was fun. i just hate the building-the-furniture part" Tobby smiled sheepishly and leaned back, enjoying the massage.

"What do you guys want from the diner?" their dad asked as he dials the number on the telephone

"Burgers and fries, lots and lots of fries" Tobby mumbled, almost dozing off. Rosie gave hers and draped a blanket over Tobby. She was about to go upstairs to get started with her room, but her dad called her down.

"Sweetie, is it okay if you pick the food up from the diner? Toby's bed collapsed again" Her dad asked.

"Sure," Rosie began to put her hair up in a bun and took her coat off the rack, followed by the car keys.

"My wallet's on the coffeetable!" her dad yelled from upstairs.

"Got it!" Rosie took a fifty bill, and went out. Rosie got in the car and quickly drove off, before remembering that she didnt even knew the way to the diner. She was about to turn back when she spotted a guy with platinum blonde hair moving a car wheel to his house.

"Excuse me!" Rosie said as she rolled down her window.

The guy looked up to her from the wheel, and Rosie felt her breath cut short. He had brown eyes, almost golden because of the sunset. He was wearing a muscle shirt that complemented his toned arms, glistening with sweat. Rosie figured he was the one working on the car earlier.

She cleared her throat when she saw him coked an eyebrow, "Um, which way is the diner?"

The guy squinted his eye and pointed down the street, his arms being in full show, "Go down this road and turn right, once you see the pharmacy, take a left. It should be on your right when you get to the main road"

His voice was deep, groggy and a little out of breath. Rosie almost got distracted. Once her was done, he turned his back on her before she could even say thank you. She bit her lower lip shyly and rolled her window up before driving to the direction he pointed.
