Jealousy

The warm morning sun woke me up from the small window, with enough light to illuminate the entire room. Cat was still asleep in my arms, so I pulled her even closer and she nuzzled her head into the crook of my neck. I loved mornings like these. We had many of them over summer and I loved each one. I kissed the top of her head and checked my watch.

"Shit Cat we need to get up we have 15 minutes to get to class." My first class was DADA with Hurley, if I was late on the first day I wouldn't hear the last of it. Cat groaned at my panic and rolled off of me.

"Hushhhh it's my day off." I rolled my eyes. Of course she got Mondays off, lucky bugger. I got up and ran my hand through my curls to try to tame them a little. I de-wrinkled my shirt and grabbed my wand sliding it back into my pocket. "Do you have to go?" I heard a small voice whisper from where I just lay. I sigh but nod kneeling next to the bed.

"I do, my love. But I will see you at lunch okay?" That make her eyes light up. I guess she was used to being ignored by me at lunch, so this was a nice change. I can't disagree. She leaned up and kissed my cheek before shoving me away lightly and spreading herself over the bed. I smirked and unlocked the door quietly closing it behind me before I set off running to my class.

Luckily, I arrived with 3 minutes to spare but all the good seats were gone. I was stuck sitting next to Taylor who glared at me for my lack of parchment and quill. She gladly scattered her belongings all over the desk as if to show how prepared she was compared to me. Still, that didn't stop me from answering all the questions she couldn't (which was most of them).

After class I watched Taylor shove her stuff in her bright blue bag and march out of the classroom which caused me to chuckle. She's so childish. I was one of the last ones to leave but Scorpio waited for me outside.

"You didn't come back last night. Get up to much?" He nudged me with his elbow and wiggled his eyebrows. I rolled my eyes but smiled anyway.

"Hah, I wish. No, we had a pretty serious conversation instead then fell asleep."

"About how much of a dick you were?" He grinned his cheeky grin and moved slightly away knowing I'd probably push him anyway.

"Yes Scorpio, exactly that." We walked to the Great Hall with Scorpio teasing me the entire way. When we reached the doors, I was met with a decision. I could either sit with Cat and her friends on one of the middle tables or I could sit with the rest of my house.

Cat looked up and met my eyes. Scorpio didn't waste any time and walked straight over to the small group. Of course he did, he didn't have anything to worry about. I hesitated, maybe just a little too long, before walking over and plonking myself between Victoria and Isla. Car was opposite next to Scorpio and Taylor. An arrangement I wasn't too pleased about. I heard some whisperings from behind me but by the time I turned around, the second year Slytherins had their heads down studying. Maybe I'm being paranoid.

"Has the great and powerful Slytherin finally decide to grace us with their presence after 2 years of begging? What an honour." Isla bowed and held out her hand to shake mine. I slapped it away lightly.

"It was time for a change," I stated simply and grabbed a few tuna and sweetcorn sandwiches for lunch. I looked up at Cat who was smiling sweetly at me. I blushed a little and shoved the rest of my sandwiches in my mouth to halt any words of admiration that threatened to spill out.

"So how were everyone's classes?" Victoria asked in her absent voice. I didn't mind Victoria at all, she always made me feel welcomed and didn't seem offended when I didn't associate with her friends. I guess she could understand why.

"Awful, I'm thinking of dropping DADA," Taylor spat in her sullen tone. I smirked but didn't respond not wanting to purposely upset any of Cat's friends this early on. "Still I don't mind a shoddy first lesson when my favourite Hufflepuffs are coming to watch my tryouts tonight. You're still coming, aren't you?" Even though Isla was sat directly opposite her, Taylor directed the question to Cat who was delicately eating a cheese toastie. I watched Cat carefully for her reaction, but she didn't seem to notice. She nodded enthusiastically.

"I will be there, don't you worry." She smiled warmly at Taylor and my nose twitched in irritation. Cat went to grab some more food and Taylor looked at me smirking. Oh, that bitch. My leg began to shake which Isla noticed. She gently touched my elbow. I turned to look at her and she smiled in reassurance. She's right. Cat Is mine and I shouldn't have to worry about some immature witch.

"Speaking of try outs, when are ours Quiche?" Scorpio asked shovelling another hashbrown into his oversized mouth. Cat looked up at me expectantly.

"I uh..." Her eyes caught me off guard. They were gorgeous. I cleared my thought and Taylor snickered. "Tomorrow evening." I didn't ask if anyone was coming, I wasn't about to beg for attention like Taylor. I grabbed some hashbrowns before Scorpio demolished them all.

I finished lunch before everyone else and went to leave. I wanted to get on top of homework before the tryouts tomorrow.

"Quiche?" I looked over at Cat who was looking at me worried. "Everything okay?" I nodded and smiled sweetly, a smile I reserved exclusively for her.

"Yeah I'm just going to get some work done." I watched her shoulders sink and bit my lip. "You can come if you like?" Her head shot up and she nodded even more enthusiastically than she did responding to Taylor. She grabbed her bag and I took the time to raise an eyebrow and smirk at Taylor's glare.

Cat followed closely behind me as we left, and I slipped my hand in hers once we were out of the Hall. It was a very calming motion and Taylor evaporated from my mind.
