Quidditch Tryouts

The library at Hogwarts was quite possibly my favourite place in the world. Even more so when Cat sits with me. The library was empty bar myself and Cat which was perfect, I hated how busy the library got during exam season. But that's not today. Today nobody wanted to even think about studying or homework after the first hard day of classes. Idiots. This is why I'm top of the class.

Cat was curled up next to me with her head in my lap reading as I took notes from a very outdated book, not my choice obviously. Whenever I paused to think about what to write, I would absently play with her hair and she would cuddle further into me. The fire we sat next to kept us warm and the soft crackling was soothing.

"So, Draco Malfoy actually helped Potter... in the end I mean?" Cat asked looking up at me. I shrugged my shoulders.

"You should ask Scorpio. Although on second thoughts, he would probably get a little pissed off." Cat giggled, my heart melted. I lent down and kissed her softly smiling into our kiss. She reached a hand up and wrapped my curls around her fingers. A soft moan escaped my lips without warning after a few soft tugs.

"Ew, that's disgusting." I stopped smiling immediately and growled pulling out my wand. Taylor. She was dressed up in her Ravenclaw quidditch gear. The dark blue didn't suit her. It made her look dark and almost dangerous. Almost. Cat's blue didn't look like that.

"Fuck off Taylor. "I sat up straight and turned away going back to my reading, not willing to give her any more of my attention. My hand was still tight on my wand. Cat glared at me for being rude, but I kept my poker face. Taylor ignored my comment and looked at Cat who had now sat up out of my lap. I missed her warmth already.

"Quidditch try-outs start in a bit, I was hoping to walk you to the pitch." What the fuck is wrong with her. My nose twitched. Cat reached for my hand.

"Actually, I was gonna walk there with Quiche. But thank you. "Taylor was obviously irritated and stormed off. I groaned as soon as she left. Cat moved into my lap and wrapped her arms around my shoulders smiling sweetly at me. "Pwease will you walk with me?" I rolled my eyes but smiled anyway nodding. She grinned and kissed me. I happily kissed her back.

It was freezing outside, and the wind hurt my ears. Cat kept close to share my natural warmth. I didn't complain. The tryouts went on for way longer than they should have but then again, the Ravenclaw captain hadn't won the league in her whole career as captain so I can't blame her for wanting to pick the best team possible. We will still beat them either way.

I refused to wait around for Taylor to come out from the changing rooms so Cat and I walked back up to the castle. Nobody was out on the law as it was dinner time, so I wasn't afraid to hold her hand. The sky turned from an icy grey to a dark blue on the walk back. I would never admit it but I was terrified of the dark. I hated it. I hated what it did to people. I pulled out my wand and cast Lumos. Cat looked at me confused.

"I just wanted to see your cute face." She smiled widely, and I kissed her cheek, feeling the warm blush flood her cheeks. I pulled her close.

We went our separate ways when we got to the dining hall to sit at our house tables. I easily found Scorpio, his bleach white hair was noticeable from a mile off. I smiled at him and started loading my plate with warm mashed potatoes.

"The Ravenclaw team this year looks awful," I commented, causing Fernsby to whip his head in my direction before Scorpio could swallow his food to reply. I didn't realise our captain was sat this close.

"You were at the Ravenclaw try outs? Why the fuck were you there?" He sounded angry as if I would just up and leave his team to join another house. He was so thick sometimes.

"Just checking out the competition alright? Chill." I kept a calm voice fully aware that if I was overly rude he could kick me off the team regardless of my skills. Fernsby was a proud man and didn't like to be insulted, as a 4th year named Riley learnt. She only lasted two weeks on the pitch before a rouge bludger was sent in her direction. Fernsby blamed the Gryffindor beaters but everyone knew it was his doing.

"Are you sure you weren't sneaking off with your new friend?" Merida plonked herself opposite us, her long black hair ruffled unattractively by the wind. I raised an eyebrow at her. "Oh you know, that Hufflepuff bitch." I wanted to growl and reach over pushing her off of her seat but instead I kept my cool, reaching out for some baked beans.

"I haven't got a clue what you're talking about."

"Yeah Quiche is just finding another hoe to keep entertained. Aren't you Quiche?" Miller chimed in from the other side of Frensby. I faked a chuckled and plastered a smirk on my face.

"You're absolutely right." Scorpio was pulling at my shirt trying to get my attention. I ignored him. "Just another addition to my vast collection." Scorpio kicked me hard under the table. I turned and glared at him after seeing the Miller was satisfied with my answer. He nodded in the direction of the entrance. I looked over just in time to see Cat's shoulders shaking in a sob and Taylor's arm around her waist, (I'm guessing in a comforting way?) leading her out.

I growled lowly and looked over to the Hufflepuff table trying to understand what the fuck just happened. I caught Isla who was shooting daggers at me. "Go after her" she mouthed. I looked around at my table. If I left now then everyone would know I was going after her and that would be too suspicious.

I stayed where I was and avoided Isla's glare for the rest of dinner. Furnsby kept me talking all the way back to the common room so I didn't have a chance to escape and try to find Cat to see what was wrong. This made my blood boil. Fuck knows what her a Taylor was doing with her in such a vulnerable state.

It wasn't until 11pm that night that I was finally able to sneak away. I practically ran to our room but found no evidence that Cat had been here. I decided to wait. She usually came here if she was upset, I always made her feel better. I waited and waited until 3 in the morning. She didn't show up. She's gotta show up, she's just running late. I kept that sentence running in my head until 6 am. She wasn't coming.
