The door opened to reveal (Y/n) in a fit of tears. Shaking from the cold and the vigorous emotions that went through her.Victor's heart broke at the sight of her. His eyes immediately scanned for any injuries as he took her into his arms. "(Y/n)?! What's wrong?"
She held onto him tightly, her cries growing muffled by his chest. Victor could feel his shirt getting wet. "(Y/n)?" He said more softly.
"Can I stay here? J-just for a little while, until things are back to normal?" (Y/n) spluttered.
Victor knitted his brows. "Did something happen?" He asked, his worry for her safety growing with each passing second. "Did someone hurt you?"
"Please, I just need somewhere to stay that isn't my apartment." She begged.
"Of course, you know that you're welcome any time. But please tell me why you-"
"Can I tell you in the morning? I'm exhausted." (Y/n) rubbed over her eyes, the adrenaline that she had felt that evening kept her going so her tiredness was only just hitting her.
"Sure... sure." Victor answered, still wanting to know what had happened but figuring it would be best to just hear about it on (Y/n)'s terms. "You're not hurt physically, are you?"
(Y/n) shook her head.
He sighed with a smile. "I can lend you some of my pyjamas if you want."
"That would be nice... thank you." (Y/n) voice was quiet and weakened, some darker part of Victor loved hearing it. It reminded him that he was in control and she was relying on him- even if she didn't realise her feelings just yet, she still knew that Victor was the only one who could protect her.
Her hand felt cold and small in his as he walked one of the spare rooms that was nearby his own. "Will you be okay on your own?" Victor prayed that the answer would be no.
"I think so..." She mumbled.
Victor scorned himself inwardly for even giving her an option but let it go. "Okay, I'll grab you some things for you to sleep in."
He walked to his room, hating the feeling of warmth that filled him. He hated how much he was enjoying this, and he knew that once he discovered what had happened he wouldn't be feeling so happy anymore. But it was lovely for him to have (Y/n) at his doorstep, so weak and fragile and... helpless. It was utterly adorable to him.
He picked up a pair of black sweatpants and a plain t shirt, they'd be too big for her but would have to do.
Victor's heart was fluttering at the thought of (Y/n) wearing his clothes, in an ideal world she'd wear his clothes all the time, that way everyone would know that she belonged to him and wasn't to be touched in the slightest... that wasn't quite true... in an ideal world, (Y/n) wouldn't be leaving the house at all- but that would come with time.
He carried the folded clothes back to (Y/n), who was sitting on the edge of the bed, reading through some text messages.
"Got some stuff for you to wear." He announced.
(Y/n) quickly turned her phone off and placed in face down on the bed. She'd been going through her conversations with Harlow.
"Thanks... I'll go change." She took the clothing and departed to the ensuite to change.
Victor didn't really sleep that night. It wasn't like it was the first time he'd stayed in the same house as (Y/n), they slept in the same bed sometimes in college. It was the anticipation that kept him up. 'What happened last night?' He thought anxiously, the worse it was, the worse he'd feel about feeling so good.
Maybe everything was fine, maybe she realised her feelings for him and was just upset she hadn't noticed the blindingly obvious any sooner. However unlikely, that was the thought that Victor was clinging to to stop himself from bursting into the spare room and demanding answers right then and there.
So when morning broke, he jumped out of bed with haste. He put together a light breakfast with some coffee for her and carried it up on a tray, he loved doing these little acts of affection for her, this had the added bonus that it prevented her from stalling her explanation by going down for food.
Victor knocked at her door lightly and waited until her melodic voice hushed out 'come in'.
"Good morning~" He sung.
(Y/n) squinted from the sudden light entering the room. "Morning."
"I made you some breakfast." He placed the tray on her lap and sat down next to her over the covers.
"You didn't have to do that." (Y/n) said reluctantly.
"You're my guest, as host it's my duty to make sure you're well-fed." Victor smiled. "So..... not that I don't want you here, but why are you here?" He dove straight in.
(Y/n) blinked a couple times before registering the question. "I, um, I lost my job."
Victor plastered a look of pity on his face. "Oh no..." He said, trying to hide the fact that he was ecstatic with this news. She had no source of income! No way to support herself... apart from Victor. "Why'd you lose it?"
"They fired me... because Harlow lied." Her tone got more bitter as she spoke.
'The plot thickens... why would Harlow want (Y/n) out of a job?' Victor thought to himself.
"What did he say?"
"He said that we'd had a romantic and sexual relationship- which we didn't!" (Y/n) become slowly more angry. "And he did this because-" She cut herself off, remembering that Victor had asked Yvonne the same question Harlow had asked her. Yvonne lied and Victor didn't do anything, (Y/n) told the truth and everything went to shit. Maybe if she just kept things under wraps a little longer until things improved. "Because of nothing."
