Helping others choosing new clothes was entertaining. Doing that for myself was insufferable.

I liked my body, I never complained about it. For standard measurements though, I was too short, too thin and my boobs were too big.

So as you can imagine, shopping wasn't easy.

Martina said she also hated the part of trying them on. Her physique was the opposite as mine, she had wider hips and smaller boobs.

She mentioned something about insecurities in the past and said she would tell me everything in a moment where we would both might want to get emotions off our chests.

And here we were now, getting money off our bank accounts.

To be honest, I had a little money saved so I could buy some Christmas gifts for my family, so, even though we were still in the middle of November, that's what I would do, apart from looking for one or two items for me.

"I need a nice coat." Martina announced and I tensed.

Didn't Ace give it to her yet?

"What do you think about this one?" She asked, showing me a black coat, very similar to the one Ace bought for her.

"No!" I exclaimed.

Way to go, Riley.

I didn't how to lie. Martina stared at me surprised by my outburst. "I mean... 90 dollars. That's too expensive, don't you think?"

She examined it for a few seconds. "I don't think that's expensive." She added. "Coats usually are."

Oh yeah, I forgot I was hanging out with the cast of Gossip Girl lately.

"Yeah, but-" I stared at the coat, trying to put on my best disgusted face, "- it doesn't have pockets. What if it's too cold and you wanna keep your hands inside?"

Martina bit her lips. "Yeah, you're right." She nodded. "Plus, Ace is always telling me that I have too many black clothes." She chuckled.

And he bought the girl a black coat. Way to go, Ace.

After buying a necklace for my sister, a tie for my brother in law and a board game for their children, I decided to stop. There was no need to treat myself with more clothes, what I had was enough, and I felt grateful for that.

We went to a coffee shop and sat down tiredly. You could run for miles but shopping would always be more exhausting.

She ordered a black coffee and I ordered a cappuccino. The sweet beverage reminding me of a certain twenty four year old who liked to call me Riri.

"You remind me a lot of Ace." Martina said all of a sudden.

"Sorry, what?" I said with a laugh.

Martina laughed too, understanding my confusion. "Yeah. You guys don't talk much, you prefer to listen. You are both shy, he just hides it under a serious and sometimes kind of rude facade." She stared at me, the corner of her lips curling into a smile. "You, on the other hand, are smiling most of the time. You're shy in the adorable way, he's shy in the way that makes me want to shake him up and shout at him sometimes." She scoffed.

I showed her a cigarette as if asking her if she minded and she shook her head. Yes, I had come back to smocking. Too much going on in my life right now. I lit it up and took a puff. "Yeah." I shrugged. "I guess we're both reserved."

She narrowed her eyes pensively as she took a sip of her coffee. "I guess we all are. I can seem all chatty and stuff, but I wouldn't tell things I consider important to people I don't know. I need that full trust, you know?"
