The next few days passed by with nothing new. Finally it was Sunday.
"Wake up you lazy butt, we have work to do," Paige called, yanking the sheets off my bed. I shivered slightly and swatted at the air, hoping to maybe hit her in the process. "Get up."
I sighed and sat up, opening my eyes slightly and letting them adjust to the light. Then I stood up and let them get on with their normal morning routines.
Finally they finished, sending me on my way to breakfast. I made it down the stairs and into the dining hall quickly and slid into my spot just as the royals entered. Hazel dismissed us all to sit and begin eating.
After breakfast, Hazel stood and cleared her throat. "So, I want you all to know that tomorrow you will be meeting the family. Each of you will be meeting each of us. There shouldn't be any conflicts and I can't wait to meet each and every one of you. Have a great rest of your day."
I smiled. I couldn't wait to talk to most of them. Frank I was a little nervous about but oh well. I looked around me and the other girls were all freaking out. "I didn't know they did this," Layla said, turning to me looking worried. "They haven't done it in Illea yet, and Illea's ahead of us."
"Illea also hasn't done meetings yet," I mentioned, trying to calm her down while also mentally freaking out. Why did she all of a sudden care about Illea?
"True," Layla said, "But."
I cut her off, "So there's nothing to worry about." I was going to reassure her more, but Mrs. Holloway came over.
"Lady Victoria, we need to talk."
I nodded, losing any of the joy on my face and replacing it with a calm, unbothered look. Brittany snickered from across the table. I just ignored her.
Mrs. Holloway led me out of the dining hall and into one of the small classrooms on the first floor. "How many times do I have to warn you?" She asked.
"Warn me of what ma'am?" I asked, trying to play innocent.
"Of not showing up to meals. I know this was a few days ago but you missed lunch and dinner one day, then you've missed lunch the past few days. It kind of looks as if you don't care."
I slightly nodded my head. "Ma'am, the other day was an accident, and I've actually been quite busy recently and lunch has not been my number one priority."
"Busy with what?" Mrs. Holloway snapped. "You have had no work, no nothing but this selection to work on."
It was becoming harder and harder to be polite with her. "Ma'am that is all quite personal, but I assure you that the royal family knows of this and understands my absences. Now, if you'll excuse me, I actually have something I need to go pick up." That was a lie, but I needed to get away.
I pushed past her and out into the hallway, making it to the women's room before she could argue with me. I went straight over to the mail area and picked up a letter. The handwriting on the front made me smile. Owen had sent me a letter. I smiled over at Angel who was sitting in the corner reading a letter. She smiled back at me and motioned me over to her.
I shook my head and motioned to the letter then to the door. She nodded, and I exited the room and headed back towards my room.
Once there I sat at my desk and opened the letter.
Hey, Vicky. Lord have you had a rough few weeks. I know I could just call you, but I needed a little time to think this through. Please call when you have an answer. So here you go. I have meetings this week on Monday and Tuesday. There's only ten girls left, but the meetings are spread out throughout the day. I know you're busy, but I really want your opinion. Call back please. Can't wait to talk to you.
