Once James is out of the room I look back to Hazel.
"Sorry about him, but he is just a little protective with you being his mate and all. He got really worried when you didn't wake up for a couple of days" she starts slowly walking towards me with her hands up.
I am very confused as to why she is helping me or talking to me. I just want to leave. I want to be free and be one my own with nobody around me. I could live in the woods and take care of myself.
Before I was taken, I lived with a pack, my parents were the Alphas, but I didn't learn everything and all I knew were the basic workings of the pack. Werewolves don't turn until they turn a teenager at age 13 and that's when training and learning about everything being a werewolf is explained. But seeing as how I didn't make it to that age before being taken, I didn't learn about much.
When she sees my confused look she gets a little confused herself.
"Do you know a lot about werewolves?" She asks
I shrug my shoulders
"We're you in a pack before?"
I nod my head yes.
"Did you go rogue?"
I shake my head no.
"Did you leave?" she asks confused.
I shrug because I don't really know. I mean the took me, so I was gone, but it wasn't my decision.
"Did you leave with your family?" she asks.
I shake my head no again and look down. I can feel the tears gathering in my eyes and I look down and play with my hands.
"Were you taken by strangers?"
I nod my head.
"For how long"
I hold up ten fingers.
"10 weeks?" She looks sad.
I shake my head.
"10 years?!" Her eyes are now watering.
I nod my head and her silent tears start falling and before I can even do anything to stop her she rushes over to hug me. But I don't mind, she isn't hurting me yet, so that must be a good sign.
------
After she hugged me and asked a couple yes or no questions about my leg and how much it hurt, she helped me wash it and called the doctor in to stitch it back up.
He was nice to me and explained everything he was doing before he did it. My leg had to be numbed and the shots hurt. When he started stitching it I had to look away because it was not the most appealing thing to watch. After he leaves Hazel stays to hang out with me for a little, or to watch me, I'm not really sure which.
We hang out and she talks about aimless things going on in the pack. She just talks for a really long time. I don't know if she is trying to fill the silence, or if she is waiting for me to put input in, but i just stare at her and think about how I am going to get away from here.
After an infinite amount of time, but what probably 20 minutes, she leaves to go get food and this is my first opportunity to leave. I wait about a minute after she leaves and get up test the door.
To my surprise it is unlocked. I open it slowly to peek out into the hallway. I slowly walk out and look to both sides before making a decision to try going to the right. I walk as fast as I can before coming to a bigger hallway with a desk. Nobody is at the desk and I look to the right to see two double doors leading to the outside.
I quickly walk to the doors and open them. Outside the sun is shining really bright and hold my hands above my eyes to block the sun while looking around. Straight ahead is a field but at the end is the woods. If I can get to the woods I can start running away from here.
I start quickly walking across the field. I see people around but no one is paying particular attention to me. I am almost at the woods when I hear someone yelling; I think they are yelling for me so I start to go faster.
I am so close to the woods when I feel big arms wrap around me and lift me of the ground. I start thrashing around and trying to get away. I need to get away.
"Calm down, I'm not going to hurt you," instantly I feel calm and recognize the voice as James' which makes me more nervous. I am still panicking but I realize I will not be able to get away now. I start silently crying. He turns around and starts walking back to the building. As we get close I see Hazel standing in the doorway. She looks worried and is standing there with her arms crossed.
As we get closer James puts me down. I just keep my head down and wait for one of them to speak. I can feel James behind me and he just sighs before turning around and walking away.
Hazel just stares at me with a sad look on her face.
"Lets go back inside, its going to get dark soon," she turns around and walks inside, I guess expecting me to follow her.
I turn around away from the building but I see James halfway to a nearby house looking at me with his hands in his pockets.
I turn around and quickly walk into the building, following Hazel. She is less scary than James and I can try and get away later. We make it back in the room and she sits in a chair near the window staring out the window.
"I don't know what you are scared of and I don't know what happened, but nobody will harm you here. Nobody will ever lay a hand on you again, and I guess until you realize that you are going to try to escape. I understand why you would want to, but I only ask that you wait until you are healed to do it. You aren't strong enough right now and you will injure yourself more if you keep trying." She never looked at me. She seems sincere but I don't know how I could trust strangers that I just came across to be nice to me.
We sit there for a couple minutes in complete silence. I was from the doorway to the bed and sit down cross legged. I start playing with my hands in my lap and she picks up a sandwich off the table next to me and give it to me. I give her a small smile and pick it up and take a bite. She has one too and we eat in silence for a little while.
After she eats she sits there playing with some square that lights up and shows pictures. She sees me looking at it and tells me its an iPhone and explains what it does. I remember what a cell phone is, but they were just phones you could flip open and call people.
Hazel gives me some shorts and a long sleeve shirt I can change into and I head into the bathroom and change quickly. Afterwards she explains they want me to stay here overnight but I can leave the hospital tomorrow. When she says I can leave I get excited before she corrects herself and says only the hospital.
When she sees my face fall she looks disappointed and sighs before asking me if I'm tired. I shrug and sit back on the bed.
She then asks if I want to watch a movie so I nod my head and we begin watching some movie called The Notebook.
At the end I am crying a little and I look over and she is too. Realizing how late it is she say she has to start heading back home but promises to be back tomorrow morning.
