"Katie!" I hear Kaley yell in the crowded hallway.

"What?" I ask softly as people look at me.

"We need to talk about you know who." She says and I shiver. I haven't seen Daniel since I shot him.

"What about him?" I ask and she sighs.

"He's gone missing and he left this." She hands me a note.

*Dear family

My mate has decided to pick herself over me. She shot me in the arm a week ago because her hunter took over. I loved her and I haven't showed her anything but love. It pains me that all she sees me as is a monster.

I laugh bitterly and give her back the note. "That's ridiculous!" I exclaim and I feel a presence next to me. I turn to see Lance growling and coming towards me.

"Lance the note isn't true!" Kaley says and gets in front of me.

"Move Kaley, I know this bitch shot him."

"I shot him in self-defense! He lunged at me!" I yell at him and get stares in the hallway.

"That is a God damn lie!" He says and shifts. I back away and feel Kat try to move forward.

{"Kat no, we're in school." I say and I hear her sigh.

"Katie you let these creatures walk all over you." She says}

"Lance a few nights ago I was attack by a vampire, he had icy blue eyes." I say and I watch him stop shifting.

"What?"

"Last night after I had a flash back to that night I woke up and your brother was there. He attacked me again." I say and show him my arm, the marks from Daniel still there.

"Katie.." He says and looks at the wounds.

"I passed out, woke up and was told my hunter was afraid of Daniel. I told her I needed her more than him. Then he appeared again and I told I'd shoot him if I had to. He lunged at me and I shot." I say showing him the wound. "Hurting him, hurt myself." I say.

"Katie I'm sorry." He says and hands me another note. "He told me to give this to you." I grab the note and my hands start shaking.

*Dear Katie,

Oh my little mate, don't think just because you shot me, that'll keep me away. I will get revenge and I will wipe out you pathetic kind. You have my promise.

I drop the note and shake my head. "He's gonna keep coming back.." I say and Kaley hugs me.

"I'll protect you." I hear Lance say and I nod.

"Thanks Lance." I say and he hugs me. They both pull away and Kaley smiles.

"Finally, I was waiting for Lance to come clean." She says and I stare at her.

"What?" I ask confused and Lance sighs.

"Katie, I like you.." He says and I blush slightly.

"Really?" I ask and he nods.

"I'm sorry for everything
I've done, my vampire is really possessive. You being Daniel's mate pissed it off." He says and I nod.

"I understand Lance." I say and he sighs in relief. I hug him tight and he hugs me back.

"Alright you two. We need to be on our guard while Daniel is missing." I hear Carter say and I pull away.

"When did you guys get there?" I ask blushing.

"In time to hear Lance confess his feelings. "Hurt my sister like Daniel has, we won't hesitate to kill you." Keith says and I watch Lance put his hands up.

"Alright." He says and places an arm around my waist. I smile and people in the hallway start clapping. I blush and Lance chuckles. We all start heading to class when we heard sarcastic clapping. Lance and Kaley turn around growling.

"Wow, hurtful to see my brother take my mate." I hear Daniel say.

"I'm no longer your mate!" I say not looking behind me. "You lost that on the night you attacked me." I say and Lances grip tightens. I place my hand over his and see him relax.

"Oh Katie, you are and will always be my mate." He says and walks away.

{"Don't listen to him girl, he's not your mate, I don't feel anything towards him. Mmm but Lance." Kat says and I laugh.

"Mhm I know, besides Lance seems to genuinely like me." I say and she nods.}

I head to class and start my day at school, when Carter runs in. "Katie we need to go." He says and looks around. I follow his gaze and see a vampire shifting. I quickly get up as he lunges at me. I run for Carter who growls at the man.

"What the hell is happening?" I ask and he shrugs as we run over to Kaley and Lance.

"Daniel put a price out for his mate." Lance says and growls. I smile at his protectiveness.

"We need to get Katie home, where there are other hunters." Keith says shifting into his wolf. Some hunters run over to us and pant.

"Princess you okay?" They ask and I nod.

"I'm fine guys." I say and Lance looks at me confused. "I'm the princess of the hunters, I'll take over as Ki..Queen as soon as my father backs down." I say and he nods, while smiling proudly.

"Lets get you home." He says and picks me up. I squeal and close my eyes as he teleports us to my house. "You can open your eyes, we're here." He says and my dad bust into my room.

"Dad before you freak out, Daniel has put a price out on my head. Lance got me out of the school." I say and he relaxes. "Also he may be my second chance mate.." I mumble and my dad sighs.

"Nice to meet you Lance, sorry we couldn't meet on better terms. Thanks for bringing her home safe." He says and Lance nods.

"Of course sir." Lance says and looks at me. "Bye KitKat, see you later." He says and vanishes.
