Second Chance?

I lay on my bed and look at the ceiling as my dad paces my room. "Your second chance mate is a vampire?" He says and I sigh.

"Dad my first mate was a vampire!" I say and sit up.

"Yeah and look how well that turned out!" He yells and I flinch.

"Even my hunter thinks Lance is perfect. I know you hate vampires but Lance is my mate and that's how this is gonna work." I say and he looks at me.

"You're all grown up..soon you'll be ready to..." I cut him off and shake my head.

"Don't." I say and sigh. "I'm not ready to take over the hunters. I'm never gonna be ready." I say and he sighs.

"Sweetheart..."

"Dad I just wanna be alone." I say and he nods, walking out. I roll onto my side and close my eyes, holding onto blood rose.

"Ah my dear mate." I quickly get up but he pins me down.

"Get off me!" I say and he smirks.

"So my brother is your second chance mate? It would be a shame if you were marked.." He says and my eyes widen, I struggle to push him off. He grabs my wrist and slowly licks it. I try to pull it away and he bites into it. I whimper in pain and he pulls back.

"You asshole!" I hear Lance yell and he tackles Daniel off of me.

{"Kat..." I mumble weakly.

"I'm trying to force it out Katie, I will not be tied to him forever." She says and starts on my wrist. I watch her closely and start feeling stronger. "Its Lance, he's marking you to replace Daniels." She says and I nod.}

I open my eyes and turn to look at Lance. "Don't worry Katie, I'll fix this." He says and I see my dad holding blood rose to Daniels head. Lance pulls back and smiles. "Crisis averted." Lance says and I look at my wrist and smile.

"Thank you Lance."

"No problem princess." He says and I smile. He walks over to Daniel and snaps his neck. "He'll be put in a cell." He says and picks him up before vanishing.

Lance's P.O.V

I arrive back at the castle and my mother looks at me. "What happened?" She ask.

"Daniel tried to forcibly mark my mate." I say and she frowns. "I'm Katies second chance mate." I imply and she smiles.

"Oh Katie is such a sweet girl." I nod and sigh.

"Ma, Daniel lied. Katie didn't attack him, he attacked her. She has the marks from his claws." I say and she gasp.

"Why did he attack his mate? I raised him better than that!" She exclaims.

"Because he can't see over the fact that she is a hunter. But as far as I know she hasn't hurt a single vampire."

"We all know she's a hunter since Kaley has been bound to her. She's a lovely girl. Your brother needs to fix his attitude about it if he wants a chance." She says and I hear my dad walk in.

"He won't get a chance, I just got off the phone with Michael. Katie is not doing well, with Daniel forcing his mark on her and Lance reversing it, she's sick." He says and takes Daniel from me. "Lance you're to be the new king. Since you handle things better than your brother." I nod and he walks off. I sigh and Kaley walks in.
