Feeling his heart skipping a beat as he recognized the voice, Theo stepped away from Quentin who also seemed to be too shocked to move. He knew who was talking to them, questioning what they were doing so late together.

They were kissing, that's what they were doing. He wasn't brave enough to look at his visitor so he just kept staring at Quentin's familiar blue eyes as if he was searching something from there. A help, perhaps, or even a hint about what should be their next move.

And although he knew that he shouldn't get his hopes up, he was still disappointed when Quentin gave him nothing. His eyes that were always so full of life and joy, were now empty from any emotion that it scared him almost as much as what would happen next.

"I asked what are you two doing and someone better answer me soon!" Isaac's voice held nothing but anger and bitterness and worst of all, betrayal. That single emotion seemed to destroy that little hope Quentin had for his best friend and for them.

Theo watched with a heavy heart as Quentin took a deep breath and slowly turned around, now looking at Isaac standing just a foot away from them.

While he was clearly thinking of the right words to say, Theo was much more coward and tried to think of a way to leave the situation without harming Quentin too much.

But he couldn't do that, not now when Quentin looked like he had lost all the hope and light in the world and it broke his heart.

And above all, he knew that the only thing that would fix it was if Isaac would accept them together. Not that they needed his acceptance but that boy meant so much to both of them so without a doubt his opinion mattered.

It was clear that in Quentin's mind, he had reacted much better. Why couldn't anything go as planned? Unfortunately, they hadn't exactly planned anything but they surely didn't want anyone to know about their relationship by accident like Isaac did.

And if they had planned how to tell people, they would now know what to say instead of freezing in the spot and letting Isaac get more and more ideas in his head that most likely weren't true at all.

"It's not what it looks like..." Quentin desperately tried to say, frowning even more when he saw both Theo and Isaac looking at him with the similar 'are-you-serious'-expressions.

They had been hiding and lying but it wasn't because they didn't trust Isaac. Theo just wasn't sure how and when to tell people that he liked boys.

Isaac only rolled his eyes at Quentin's words and when he spoke again, Theo had never seen him be as rude and as harsh as now, not even when they were just fighting as kids. "Don't even start, Quentin! How long has this continued?"

Theo noticed the sadness in Quentin's eyes at the mention of his real name and knew that he was also thinking the same thing: No matter what they said now, Isaac most likely wouldn't calm down and hear what they had to say.

Now when he was too angry and most likely felt betrayed for lying and not telling him sooner. Not now when he went as far as using Quentin's real name.

For some people, it wasn't a big deal. But for the Adams and Peterson families, it practically meant war. Theo knew that Isaac and Quentin's parents and siblings had been so close for so long that they were almost one huge family.

And along the many, many years their houses were full of different nicknames. But for Isaac, it had always been Queenie.

Even Theo had noticed that Isaac always used the old nickname and sometimes he wondered if his cousin even remembered his best friend's real name. Apparently he did.
