After discovering that he was gay at the very young age of thirteen and realizing that his first crush was his best friend, Quentin had never given up. Never lost hope. Never stopped dreaming of what would happen if some day Isaac would return to his feelings.
Never until now. Maybe all it took was Isaac finding his Phoebe, not some random girl he kissed on parties. Phoebe who he looked as if she was the center of his world. Phoebe who he could imagine his future with and apparently, had already done it. Wedding, kids and so on. Quentin had heard it all.
And in a few years, he would be the best man at their wedding. Fuck. He couldn't even think of that without feeling his heart breaking. But sooner or later it would happen.
"He's still not talking to you?" Katie asked. They were sitting in the cafeteria with Marco who had unofficially become part of their tiny group. Usually, Isaac sat with them but ever since Quentin yelled at him about Phoebe, he had been making sure to stay away.
"No. I don't know what else I can do but keep apologizing," Quentin sighed while playing with meatball with his fork. Marco groaned loudly, getting tired of hearing about the fight that has been going on for two days.
"If you told me not to be with my girlfriend, I would be pissed off too. But now he's clearly overreacting. Also, I don't have girlfriend, if you want to do something about that then that would be great," he said, now looking straight to Katie.
"Do you want something?" she asked with raised eyebrows, getting uncomfortable under his gaze.
"A date would be nice," he smiled.
"No."
"I didn't say a date with you, Katherine. Do you have any single friends?" he smirked, already knowing that this little sunshine was friends with a lot of people in the school and not just Quentin and Isaac.
Katie rolled her eyes but couldn't stop smiling. "Yes, I actually have one who you might like. Her name is Elizabeth and she's my neighbor. She likes to party a lot. I can invite you to her 70th birthday."
"Funny. Anyway, why don't we go there and sit at their table? We all know Isaac isn't mean enough to leave," he said, looking at Isaac and Phoebe who were once again sitting alone at their own table which was big enough for three other people.
"I don't know, he clearly doesn't want to talk to me. You can go, though," Quentin mumbled while looking at the love of his life holding hands with his girl.
Dammit, maybe he would just move away. Yes, he would move to Europe and find someone there. Maybe to France? Their language was sexy as hell. He was pretty good with languages so he would probably learn the basic french in six months or so with a good teacher...
"And leave you alone with all this depressed shit? No way, you need us," Katie rolled her eyes, she did that a lot around these guys, and continued eating her food.
"Let's talk about the party. What are you gonna wear? Katie's got a little black dress and some sexy heels?" Marco asked. Katie and Quentin looked at each other and suddenly laughed out loud as if he just said the funniest joke ever.
"Yeah, sure, that's what I wear every day. I forgot that you're still a newbie and haven't been at my room and seen my closet," she said, still chuckling.
"She literally only has two dresses and that pink thing is like four years old," Quentin explained while imagining the summer dress Katie brought when they went to summer camp together when they first met. Now that he thought about it, the dress could still fit her.
"And the other one is a black dress I used at my grandpa's funeral," she continued with a sad look on her face.
"I'm so sorry," Marco said, putting his left arm around her small shoulders.
