Toni, Veronica, Betty and sweet pea we're all sitting in the waiting room of the hospital to find out when Cheryl would wake up. A couple days ago Cheryl got into a really bad crash and had a very bad brain injury, at least that's what the doctors told them. Everyone was starting to give up hope on when or if she would wake up except Toni, her girlfriend.
She knew Cheryl was strong. Stronger then anyone she's ever know and probably will know. This girl had to go a full 17 years of her life living with her hag of a mother plus her father not being someone to look up to. So to say this girl has been through enough is complete truth and now she has to deal wit this.
A doctor came out to the waiting room asking around for Cheryl's family. Everyone pushed Toni up considering that she was her girlfriend.
"Is Cheryl awake?" Toni asked still expecting the doctor to say no.
"She is" the doctor paused as Toni smiled and gave a thumbs up to her friends who all hugged each other and came to stand by Toni's side to ask to go see her. "But" the doctor started and paused as Toni and everyone else's expression dropped. "She faced a lot of trauma to the head and has some memory loss" the doctor said
"How much did she loose" Veronica asked
"We're not quite sure yet" he said Toni took a deep breath as she asked to go see Cheryl. Everyone else stayed back to let Toni have her time with Cheryl.
She walked to Cheryl's room and opened the door and saw Cheryl drinking apple juice sitting up in her bed looking out the window.
"Hey" Toni said quietly making Cheryl turn her head and instantly smile.
"Hey, glad to see you" Cheryl said "what happened" she asked
"You were in a really bad accident" Toni said sitting down a chair by Cheryl's bed.
"Oh, that's why my head hurts so bad" she laughed making Toni smile.
"I'm so happy your awake" Toni said grabbing Cheryl's hand.
"Me too, even though it feels like I've been out for a couple seconds I really missed my best friend" Cheryl said smiling. Tonis heart stopped. Did she hear that correctly.
"Um, were best friends?"
"Yeah what else would we be" Cheryl said. Nothing has ever hurt so bad. The girl she loves can't remember that she loves her. It felt like someone took a knife to her chest and kept repeatedly stabbing her.
"Nothing I was just messing around" Toni said faked a smile. "I'll be right back" Toni said as she got up and walked out of the room towards her friends.
Everyone looked towards her smiling but stopped once they saw toni's face. Veronica saw tears welding up in her eyes and walked towards her and pulled her into a hug.
"She doesn't remember being girlfriends" Toni sobbed into Veronica's shoulder making Veronica hug her tighter. Betty and sweet pea joining in. "I'm so sorry Toni" Betty said, tears in her eyes as well. Toni was still in shock. Cheryl couldn't remember the countless nights she was curled up in Toni's bed with her because Toni didn't want Cheryl's mother to hurt her. Or when they spent the night watching movies at the drive in making out. Or Toni and her kissing for the first time at Cheryl's place, their first night together, their first morning together, the list can go on and on. But the one that hurts the most is that she can't remember that one valentines night where Toni asked Cheryl to be her girlfriend. Toni bought milkshakes for them both at pops and brought red roses with a card shaped like a heart. The one night so full of love from each other and now its gone.
The whole week Cheryl spent at Veronica's and school. Trying to get Cheryl back up to date with everything and everyone. Luckily her Intellect was still intact and she was still as sassy as before the only thing that changed really was Toni and Cheryl's relationship. Cheryl still remembered begging really close friends with Toni but just doesn't remember Toni asking her out or to be her girlfriend.
The week Cheryl spent at school Toni still stood by her talking with her and flirting like she always did their friendship carried on.
Toni and Cheryl sat in pops at a booth drinking milkshakes and just laughing at stuff that happened at school.
"I still can't believe Reggie keeps asking you out" Toni said laughing
"I know, like this douche bag couldn't get the hint the first time. By now he should at least know I'm lesbian" Cheryl laughed taking a sip of her drink.
"Here's the bill ladies, enjoy your evening" the boy said putting the bill on the table. Cheryl reaches for it but Toni grabbed it before Cheryl could.
"It's okay cher I got it" Toni smiled and that's when it struck Cheryl. It was like her brain just put a piece back together, she started to remember.
Valentine's Day Toni grabbed the check from Cheryl's hand. " I got this one cher" Toni smiled getting up to pay for them both. Cheryl smiled knowing this girl was someone she'd never want to loose.
When Toni came back she was carrying red roses and a heart shaped card. "Wow topaz your really pulling out all the moves aren't you" Cheryl said and Toni just smirked "well who's a good date without bringing flowers"
Cheryl's opened the card and it read.
Dear Cheryl
I can't express to you how much you mean to me, you're one of a kind. A red rose in a field of daisy's. Everything about you makes you so special and I wouldn't trade you for the world. Part of me never wants you to leave. Wants you all to myself. And I know that's selfish but it's true. Happy Valentine's Day my cherry! ❤️
"Toni this is so sweet. And I get it because a part of me wants you all the time" Cheryl said smiling
"Cheryl blossom would you be my girlfriend" Toni asked as Cheryl ginned with joy.
"Yes of course" Cheryl said jumping out of the booth to pull Toni into a kiss. It was one of the best kisses ever so passionate and caring.
"Cheryl..." Toni said smiling as she sat back down at the booth.
"Valentine's day!" Cheryl said and Toni gave her a confused look.
"You brought me flowers and a card" Toni didn't know what to say. She was speechless she just starred at Cheryl as she looked up and into tonis eyes.
"That day I remember how much I cared for you and... liked you" Cheryl looked deeply into tonis eyes as Toni started to smile. Hope coming back to her.
"And what about this day" Toni asked smiling looking back into Cheryl's eyes. Cheryl didn't say anything but she got up and pulled Toni into a kiss. One that felt like it could last for ever. Cheryl leaned into Toni more putting her arms around tonis neck and Toni putting them around her waist.
"I missed my girlfriend so much" Toni said smiling at Cheryl as a tear escaped her eye.
"I'm so sorry I couldn't remember." Cheryl said still in tonis embrace.
"Hey, hey. It's not your fault cher. I always will love you" Toni kisses her again.
Cheryl pulled back still keeping her arms wrapped around tonis neck. "So there's still some things that I can't remember" Cheryl said smirking at Toni.
"Oh ya, what's that" Toni smirked back.
"I don't recall what your bed looks like"
"Well maybe you should come back to mine and we can visit it" Toni smirked pulling Cheryl towards the door of pops by her hand.
"You know I don't think I remember what your body looks like either" Cheryl said as she was pulled towards her car.
Let's just say that Cheryl did remember what Toni and her bed looked like. Toni was just happy to have her girlfriend back.
