Cheryl and Toni have been friends since kindergarten they would always play on the playground and have little play dates even as they got older they still hung out on weekends and during school.
Current day- in high school
Toni's POV
it was lunch break at school and me and Cheryl were sitting at a table outside together. We were really good friends.
"So tt, hows your classes going so far?" Cheryl took a bite of Toni's sandwich. "Ew that's disgusting. what's in that, road kill?" Cheryl spit onto the ground Toni laughed at Cheryl.
"It's tuna but pretty much the same thing". Both girls looked at each other and laughed.
"Are you doing anything after school Cher if not we should go to pops". Toni suggested
"Sorry can't, I'm hanging out with someone".
"Oh who"? Toni questioned and held a look of curiosity on her face.
"Just...Reggie" Cheryl whispered the last part.
"REGGIE MANTLE!" Toni stood up and yelled in shock.
"Shhhh, Toni be quiet" Cheryl looked around to see if anyone was looking at them.
"Sorry" Toni sat back down. "So are you and Reggie going on a date or...?"
"maybe" Cheryl gave a little smirk. "Oh shit Toni I got to go, Veronica needs help with math homework" Cheryl got up and walked back into the school leaving Toni with her thoughts.
What did Cheryl see in Reggie, he's so big-headed and has a Brian the size of a pea. Toni sat thinking about Cheryl and Reggie for the rest of lunch. It was weird for Toni to think that someone could replace her. She felt kind of jealous but it defiantly wasn't of Reggie because she didn't even like guys that much. Cheryl knew this band always tried to hook Toni up with some of her friend either being annoying jocks or random girls she was never interested in. Toni just kept thinking about Cheryl.
The bell rang to signal that lunch was over so Toni got up and headed to her class. She walked through the hallway and went to her locker. As she got to her locker she noticed Cheryl and Reggie talking to each other. Reggie was leaning against his locker sleazily. Toni tried to listen to what they were talking about but couldn't hear. How could Cheryl be interested in Reggie of all people, I mean look at him. Toni thought. "Toni... earth to Toni"
Toni snapped out of her trance to a hand waiving in front of her face.
"Oh hey sweet pea what's up"
"Looks like someone has a staring problem" sweet pea joked. And leaned against the lockers
"I wasn't staring I was just thinking" Toni said as she opened her locker pretending to be busy.
"So you weren't just eyeing Cheryl from across the school?" He questioned
"No I was just thinking about how she could go out with Reggie, she could do so much better." Toni finished with slamming her locker closed.
"Sounds to me like someone's jealous"
"I'm not jealous of Reggie, he's so stupid and you know I'm more into girls"
"Im not talking about Reggie" sweet pea ended the conversation by walking away probably not to his class though.
Me jealous of Cheryl why, it's not like I like her, she's my friend. Right? Toni walked to her class waiting for the day to end so she could go home and sleep.

Toni was at her trailer watching Netflix waiting for Cheryl to text her back about the date. She was supposed to be done an hour ago, why wasn't she replying. What if Reggie is with her at her house. That thought disgusted Cheryl thinking that she'd let that pea brain touch her when all a sudden she got a call.
"Cheryl hey how'd it go" Toni asked trying to sound Supportive.
"It went well, sorry I didn't call sooner that date lasted longer then I thought it would..."
Toni couldn't think of anything to say she felt angry and sad but she didn't know why.
"Oh that sounded bad. We didn't hook up if you were wondering just pops was super busy and we didn't get our food for a while" Cheryl said in Toni's sigh of relief.
"Oh it's ok... so are you guys going on another date?" Toni questioned.
"I think so, he asked my to the movies tomorrow so that should be fun, wait what if we kiss? I always here how people kiss after the movies"
Toni at this point was raged and didn't want to hear more about Reggie. "Hey Cheryl I'm kind of tired can I call you tomorrow I need to go to bed"
"Oh um, sure I guess see you tomorrow?" Cheryl said and with that Toni hung up and sighed. Maybe I do like Cheryl as in more then best friends.

The next day Toni and Cheryl were chatting in the lounge on the couch. Cheryl was gushing about how she was nervous to go on the date with Reggie. Hearing this just made Toni's blood boil. She wanted to tell Cheryl she doesn't want to hear about Reggie but then Cheryl would think Toni liked her and the truth is she does. But Toni couldn't take it so she grabbed Cheryl's hand and dragged her to an empty classroom.
"What is it tt?" Cheryl questioned
"I can't do this Cheryl" Toni said looking into Cheryl's eye.
"Do what?"
"Pretend like I'm happy for you when I'm not". Toni said looking down at her feet.
"If it's because of reg-"
"It's not because of Reggie Cheryl, it's because if you." Toni looked at Cheryl and saw Cheryl give a confused look. "I like you Cheryl and not just as friends. I can't push these feelings down anymore. At first I thought it was Reggie and the-" Toni was cut off by Cheryl placing her lips against her. Toni was shocked first but then kissed her back as she griped Cheryl's arms and kissed her softly.
Cheryl pulled back "Toni I like you too, the only reason I went out with Reggie was so ignore the feeling I had for you and going out with him only made the stronger" she said
Toni grabbed onto Cheryl hand and looked in her eyes. "Cheryl your truly the best thing that's ever happened to me" Toni said and kissed Cheryl again on the lips. Cheryl's hands went and wrapped around Toni's neck and kissed her back. Toni gripped Cheryl's waist, they stayed like this for a solid minute. Bit rough or hungrily but soothingly and gentile making sure to show the other they cared.
"Want to go to pops after school" Toni asked Cheryl as they detached their lips
"Oh I would but I have a date with Reggie" Cheryl said jokingly and both girls laughed and walked out of the class room together.
