"I DON'T GET IT. Why is she dating Jungkook? What makes her better than the rest of us?"
"I bet she's only dating him for the money," her friend hissed. "From the way I see it, she's only going to break his heart. He needs to cut her off before he gets hurt."
"I mean, look at her. She's not even skinny! She can't possibly be his type. She'd have to be leeching off him."
I tried to keep my cool as I stood in line to pay for my grocery items. It had been more than a week since the photos of Jungkook and I surfaced online. Some fans were already unhappy about the photos; it only got worse with what Jungkook said at his interview. They were not happy about their 'bias' being in a relationship.
Unfortunately for me, I managed to get myself stuck behind two obsessive fan girls - they couldn't have been much older than fifteen - who thought they had some weird claim over Jungkook and the other band members. Just hearing the way they talked about BTS, like they owned them, it was enough to get my blood boiling. I understand that they're fans, but some of the things they said was taking it too far. What the members chose to do in their free time and the company they chose to keep was entirely up to them. No one else had any right to try and control what they could and could not do.
"I don't get why he's even dating someone like her," one of the girls said as she zoomed in on the photo of Jungkook and I on her phone. "She doesn't deserve him."
That's it. I'm going to put a stop to this right now. "Did you ever consider that maybe appearances aren't all that matter? It's the personality that counts."
The girls slowly turned and looked at me strangely. "Excuse me?" the brown-haired girl replied sassily.
The attitude of some people. No respect whatsoever. "All I'm saying is that maybe this guy likes her for her, and not particularly for the way she looks," I suggested. "You really shouldn't judge people based on appearances alone."
"And who asked you, exactly?" Her blond friend narrowed her eyes at me.
"If we wanted your opinion, we would have asked for it."
