The air was chilly and the wind was blowing just hard enough to send a shiver down your spine. The silence that the town of Lawrence, Kansas was known for was broken only by an angry boy who was on a rant about his experience at football practice the previous evening.
"I'm not even gay, Sam! Girls are really hot and I could never give them up!"
Sam rolled his eyes. He loved his brother, but Dean was so dumb sometimes. Even if Dean was straight, which Sam doubted very much, he should at least know the term bisexual.
"Sam!" Dean waved his hand in front of his brother's face. He had to reach up because even though Dean was four years older, Sam was taller by a few inches. "Get your head out of the clouds. This is serious!"
"Sorry. You do realize that you're basically just getting a taste of your own medicine, though." Sam looked over at Dean, "The way I see it, this could help."
A noise of utter disbelief came out of Dean's mouth as he looked back up at his brother. "Wh- I- Are- Sam! What the hell! The way I see it, it's not helping me at all."
Sam sighed, "Fine, Dean, just ignore everything else I said and skip to the last sentence."
They walked in silence for a minute, before Dean piped up again about the football team. Sam just tuned him out. He knew Dean was very upset, but he didn't really feel like listening to him get upset about something that he'd heard so many of his friends get upset about. The only difference was Dean wasn't joining in on the bullying in Dean's case.
Plus, Dean usually didn't care about if you were really listening, or if you just looked like you were listening. Sam just nodded every few minutes and chimed in with a simple "yeah" or "you're right".
As they turned a corner, he almost ran into who he remembered as Cas. There was also a smaller man, who had a large, swirled, rainbow lollipop in his mouth.
Dean fell into Cas, sending them both into the paved ground.
"Damn it, Cas!" Dean angrily got up and brushed himself off.
"It wasn't my fault you fell into me."
"You should watch where you're going!"
All Cas did was roll his eyes as Dean continued to bicker. Sam let out a small chuckle as he looked at his brother.
Gabe looked Sam up and down, mumbling something.
Sam looked back at him, "What?"
Taking the lollipop out of his mouth, Gabe repeated himself, "Why are you so tall?"
"Why are you so short?"
Gabe turned to look back at Cas and Dean, "Wow, creative, moose." He went back to sucking on his lollipop.
Sam laughed slightly, "Did you just call me a moose?"
Gabe put the lollipop in a ziploc bag and into the small backpack he had slung over his shoulder. "You heard me."
Sam smiled, "So, are you one of Cas' friends?"
"No, I'm his brother. From what Cas told me, I'm guessing you're Dean's brother."
"You'd be right." Sam looked over at Cas, who had stepped closer to Dean and was staring him in the eyes. Dean was staring right back. He really hoped that their eye sex didn't continue to be a thing.
"Are they seriously having eye sex while we're right here?"
This guy could read his mind. "Yeah, I guess. I'm Sam, how about you."
