Carrie gripped Luna's hand as they tried to brave the winter storm. "We need to rest somewhere!"
"We can make it!" Luna shouted over the winds.
"No... we can't!" Carrie snapped. She knew she shouldn't have let her girlfriend take directions, and now look what where they're at, Lost in the middle of Alaska during a raging blizzard! With only a thin blue jacket to keep her warm. If they didn't find shelter soon, then they'd be nothing but fairy-sicles by morning! Carrie wasn't about to let that happen. Her intense green eyes scanned the forest around them, she spotted a small cavity in a nearby tree.
"This way!" She pulled Luna towards safety. However, the winds grew more fierce, they threatened to toss the fairies around like rag dolls. Carrie furiously flapped her wings, pushing against the snow that was pelting them. She was determined to make it to the shelter.
A strong force of wind slammed into the girls from the side. Sending them flying halfway across the forest, they tumbled into the air, trying so desperately to regain control, but their wings were powerless in the ever growing strength of the winds. It tossed them left and right, disorienting poor Carrie. The world was spinning around her, she couldn't tell which way was up and down anymore, and she certainly couldn't see that tree branch until it slammed right into her chest.
Carrie let out a groan as the wind was knocked right out of her lungs. For a second her grip around her girlfriend's hand loosened... but the winds only needed one second to rip Luna away from Carrie. She watched helplessly as the purple fairy disappeared into the storm, only her screams being heard for a moment before finally being silenced by winds.
The state of shock froze Carrie faster than the blizzard ever did. Luna was gone, snatched from her in an icy grip! Before she could even react, the branch she clung onto snapped off the tree and she began spiraling towards the ground. Carrie snapped out of her shock and threw her hands out, frantically chanting a spell. When the aura around her palms glowed green, she thrusted her hands up and a large blue Forget-me-not spontaneously burst out of the ground. Carrie landed in the middle of the flower, though bruised and weak, she was okay. But her fears grew restless.
"Luna!" She weakly called out. Carrie peered out into the storm, hoping to catch a glimpse of Luna's purple hair, but there was nothing but a white haze that stretched out for miles. Knowing this could mean life-or-death, Carrie was determined to find her immediately. She began flapping her wings and jumped up in the air, only to crash down onto the blue petals a moment later.
Carrie hastily checked her back, fearing she had ripped her wings. Like a leaf, her wings had wilted to the point where she could barely straighten them, the snow had completely soaked her wings.Thankfully, there was no tear but over exerting herself anymore surely would, and losing the power of flight would certainly seal Carrie's fate.
The adrenaline that kept her alive in this weather had drained away. Carrie could no longer ignore the freezing air stinging her skin and the snow pelting on her and quickly drenching her clothes. Unable to bare the cold anymore, Carrie trusted her arms upward and the petals on the flower closed around her, sealing her in a protective bud. After using the remainder of her magic, Carrie fell over on her side, shivering profusely. Tears swelled up in her eyes, would Luna be okay? Would she know what to do? Carrie wanted to believe Luna was going to be fine, but she feared that she would never see her girlfriend again. And Carrie had no idea what she would do without her. The only thing she could do now was hope that Luna wouldn't do anything stupid.

The flower that protected Carrie had died by morning. The blue petals started to droop, letting the morning light seep in and wake the sleeping fairy up. Carrie groaned and struggled to push herself up. She still felt incredibly drained; her magic hadn't fully replenished yet, and without all her magic, Carrie would be a major target to any beasts or worse... humans out there.
Just the thought of humans made Carrie shiver. They thirst for power and would do anything to get it, even if that meant discarding their humanity. When humans found out about fairies, they hunted her people their magical properties. And they tried everything to obtain it, some thought that eating fairies would give them magical powers, but others thought they could extract the magic by doing live experiments on them. The humans never found out the secret, and because of that, her people nearly went extinct.
"Hello?" A male voice boomed in the distance. "I'm looking for a Carrie around here?"
The fairy's heart skipped a beat when she heard her name. Someone knew her name, and that meant Luna survived the blizzard! Carrie should be overjoyed, but there was something about the way the voice sounded that put her on edge. Proceeding with caution Carrie moved towards the edge of the flower, and slowly pulled the wilted petal back just enough to peek through.
In the distance stood a man, who was dressed in a heavy black coat. His gray beanie covered his hair, but his beard was a dark shade of brown, but this was all Carrie could make out. She watched him as he casually moved towards her direction, there she could see more details. His beard was starting to gray from age, and he had a Metallic ring around his left nostril. She could also see a strange marking on his neck, but his coat covered most of it, making it impossible to truly make out what it was. The man was smaller than most of the human males Carrie has seen in her life, but he was still equally terrifying! And he knew her name, there was no doubt he had captured Luna and is now looking for her.
"Holy shit..." He muttered as his eyes locked onto the giant flower. "Carrie are you nearby?"
Carrie's heart began racing as she watched the man move toward the flower that protected her. How careless of her to use something as obvious as a giant Forget-me-not out in the open like that, she should have done something more subtle! Carrie had to act fast, if she got caught, then it could be game over for both her and Luna. Without any hesitation, Carrie slipped out of the flower, the wilted petals shielding her from the human's view as she darted out across the ground. Her wings fluttered and she sprung into the air ready to make an escape.
"Hey, wait!" The man yelled out.
Carrie looked back to see a thick gloved hand reaching out for her. She screamed out and reacted by thrusting her hands upward, causing a massive vine to shoot up from the ground and wrap around the man's arm. He gasped out and tugged on the plant, hopefully, the vine was strong enough to keep him in place. She was going to take this moment to make her escape, but the man's words froze her in her place.
"Don't go! Luna is waiting for you!"
"Why should I believe you?" Carrie barked.
"How else would I know your name?" He asked. "Luna asked me to search for you."
"Then why isn't she here?"
"She got hurt, so I figured I'd let her rest while I searched for you."
Raged boiled inside Carrie, did this guy take her for an idiot? Luna may be reckless, but she would never stoop so low and accept help from a human! She certainly wouldn't tell one to go and look for her human-fearing girlfriend.
"Listen here buddy!" Carrie growled as she flew closer to his face, her hands glowing green. "I have enough magic to snap your neck, so if you did anything to Luna I will not hesitate to end your life!"
"No offense, but I don't think you can do any of that."
"And why not?"
"Because if you could, then you would have made a stronger vine." He jerked his arm forward, breaking the vine that wrapped around his wrist. Carrie let out a scream as the hand once again filled her vision. She squeezed her eyes shut, not wanting to accept the reality that she had just been captured by a human.
But when the embrace of clothed flesh didn't happen, Carrie slowly opened her eyes. His gloved hand was just inches from her face, balled up in a fist. All he did was stand there, and that was enough to freeze Carrie in her place.
"If I really wanted to, I could have grabbed you." He said, locking eyes with her. "So let's just calmly head back to th-"
Carrie felt her head spinning, her body started to feel heavy, almost too heavy to keep in the air. Her wings stopped beating and gravity pulled her down as everything began to grow dark.
"Oh fuck!"
Carrie fell into a soft surface, but it didn't feel cold like snow. It actually radiated heat. Carrie immediately snapped back into reality and screamed when she realized that she was cupped into the hands of the man! She furiously flapped her wings but she couldn't even lift herself in the air, fatigue was keeping her down.
"Put me down now!" Carrie mustered all of the magic she had left to summon a vine to wrap around him again, but unfortunately, the vine was small and frail and couldn't even wrap around his ankle before the man shook it off and stomped on it with his boots. The color drained from Carrie's face.
"You clearly can't fly on your own right now."
"I don't need your help!" Carrie snapped. "J...just let me rest and I'll find my way back to the cabin!"
He shook his head and began walking. "I promised Luna to find you, she doesn't need to worry anymore than she already has."
Carrie's heart sunk, realizing her fate was most likely sealed. She just hoped that Luna was okay like he said. All she could do now is try to restore her strength so she could finally escape from this man.
"The name's Johnny by the way."
"Carrie Greneleef." She scoffed. "But you already knew that."
"Greneleef? But you're blue." Johnny said, gesturing towards her blue hair and attire.
"Oh, so just because my name is a certain color means I have to dress that way?" Carrie crossed her arms.
"Wasn't trying to offend you, just thought it was kind of odd."
"Well, I find it odd that you're shorter than most human males!" The words poured out of her mouth before she could have a chance to stop it. Immediately, she regretted it, fearing she had just pissed off johnny. But when she looked up, she saw him grinning.
"You of all people shouldn't be making short jokes." He laughed.
Unsure with what to say, Carrie just kept quiet. She was lucky he brushed that remark off, most humans probably would have crushed her for less. Johnny acted very different than. The stories she was told, and that made her fear him more. Carrie didn't know how she could get her and her girlfriend out of this mess, but she knew she had to get out quickly, before his true colors would show.
