Melody pressed her back against the cold glass of the jar. She could hear the bean moving around upstairs, soon he would come down and decide what to do with her. There was no doubt in her mind that he was going to torture her for calling him a freak, he always did seem crazy enough to do things like that. He was prone to getting drunk and causing havoc with his friends, not to mention some of the music he had written that was about murder and death. Melody sure did fuck herself over this time.
The stairs creaked in the distance, the human was approaching. Melody felt her heart pounding against her chest, normally she wouldn't fee such fear for a bean, but being trapped in this jar put her on edge. Still, she couldn't let this bean see her scared, so Melody took a few deep breaths in an attempt to calm her nerves. Then she looked up and her green eyes locked onto the bean.
He was a tall, thin man who had black hair that looked short and disheveled in the back but long and straighter in the front. He also had jagged bangs that sometimes swept over his blue eyes. All he wore were loose black shorts, leaving the tattoos of skeletons and skulls on his arms and chest exposed. Interestingly enough, the word fiction was inked vertically across his chest, which seemed like an odd choice since it didn't seem to go with his dark aesthetic.
The bean trudged passed the table without even glancing at Melody and over to the fridge. He rummaged through it, searching for something to eat. Melody began running her fingers through her tangled red hair; it was a nervous tick she started to pick up since she moved into this house. It was all she could really do while she watched from table. Why was he stalling? If he was going to torture her, he should just get it over with already!
Her fear morphed into anger. Melody clenched her fists, she knew she should keep her cool, but she had been trapped in this jar all night! Melody couldn't wait around for answers anymore! She jumped up to her feet and charged at the glass, pounding on it with her fists! "Let me the fuck out of here!"
The bean froze for a second, before slowly turning towards Melody, locking eyes with her. "Oh right, you exist."
"You forgot about me?!" Melody hissed.
"No, I just thought you were a hallucination." He marched over to the table, his shadow engulfing the small girl. "But now that I sobered up, I recall you trying to take my alcohol."
Melody gulped as his hand grabbed onto the jar and lifted it up, causing her to tumble backwards. Her green eyes widened when she saw how close she was too his face, only the thin piece of glass separated them. But that didn't help conceal Melody from being stared down intensely by his blue eyes.
"You look awfully young to be drinking alcohol."
"Who said I was drinking it?" Melody hissed.
He threw his head back and laughed. "Yeah okay, darling. I was seventeen once too, and I was definitely drinking it!"
"There's more uses for alcohol than just getting piss drunk on, darling!"
"Oh how could I be so dumb." Sarcasm dripped through his teeth. "Could you remind me of some of the other ways to use alcohol."
"How about making a fire?" She spat out. "It's not like you keep it very warm in this house!"
"So you make a fire with some whiskey?" The human raised an eyebrow. "Yet, I have a perfectly good box of matches just sitting out in the open."
"Oh what does it matter to you?! It's not like you're going to miss a drop of alcohol!" Melody's face grew red. She was so sick of being taunted by this asshole. If he's gonna torture her, he should just get it over with already!
A smirk spread across his lips. "I think I just won."
"Wow, congratulations. What do you plan to do to me now?"
The human sat back and pondered his choices. "Start with a name, do you even have one?"
"Is this some sort of sick joke? Why the hell do you need my name?" Melody couldn't wrap her head around this guy's plan. Was he trying to make her lower her guard just to hurt her even more?
"Okay, well my name is Jimmy and I have no idea what you're talking about, darling."
"Would you cut it with the darling bullshit already!" Melody snapped. "I'm done playing this game! Whatever you're going to do, just do it!"
Jimmy's eyes narrowed at the readhead. "What are you talking about? I'm just trying to get to know you."
"Oh, spare me the nice guy act and just get the torture over with already!" Melody couldn't bare to look at Jimmy anymore, she snapped her gaze away from him and tried to resist trembling. All she could think about was how helpless she felt in this moment. Captured by a bean who could do whatever he wanted with her, no one was here to come and save her, so her fate would be a mystery to the few that once knew her; she was all alone.
Melody broke away from her thoughts when she heard a rumble from above. When a shadow engulfed her, she fearfully looked up and saw his hand descending towards her. She let out a scream as fingers wrapped around her. The girl tried to kick and squirm her way to freedom, but it was no use, she was firmly pressed against the palm of his hand.
In a futile attempt to hide from her certain doom, Melody squeezed her eyes shut. She wasn't sure what he was going to do first but she knew she couldn't bear to watch. Suddenly, she suddenly felt a cold wooden surface, and the warmth of the flesh that surrounded her disappeared. When Melody opened her eyes, she saw she was on the table, and she saw Jimmy staring down at her, his devious smile was gone.
"Look, I don't know what your problem is, but I have no intention of hurting you."
"Then what will you do?" She asked quietly.
"Let you go." Jimmy replied. "It's obvious you don't want to talk to me, so you can leave if you want."
Melody shot Jimmy a look. Was this a trick? Surely, a bean wouldn't just let a borrower go right? But he sounded so serious.
"Hello, did you hear me? You can go."
"Y...you go!" She snapped. There was no way she was going to move while he was watching.
Jimmy rolled his eyes. "Fine, but I'll be back in five minutes to make breakfast for myself." He stood up to his full height and began to walk away, but before he walked out of the kitchen he turned back to Melody. "But if you ever want to have a drink, ask me. I wouldn't mind drinking with a tiny person." He chuckled and then finally left.
Melody scoffed, drinking with such a weird bean, the day she does that would be the day hell freezes over!
