Tapping the tips of her fingers nervously against the table's top, Harper was very tense. Since her discussing with Harge at work earlier in the day she couldn't stop thinking about what if.
She'd learned from the older man that he'd known her sister since she was probably fifteen and he was little over a decade older.
Harge explained that as soon as Therese had turned eighteen they would fool around every once in a while. He'd mentioned to Harper that ever since then her sister was very cunning and would often play games with him, disappearing for months on end, even years. So the possibility of him being Waverly's father was likely.
Eyes peered out searching the diner for any signs of Waverly, Harper couldn't stop her mind from running free. Since the chase for Therese things she'd never known started to unearth themselves. Harper could've sworn that both her boss and Therese had only met each other when her father had died, they made it seem that way.
Now as she contemplated everything, she had no idea how she felt anymore towards Harge. Should she be afraid of him? What else could he be hiding from her?
"Hey,"
A voice startled her out of her mind and she turned around to find Waverly standing behind her, doing her best to suppress a smile. Placing a hand on her racing heart, Harper exhaled while giggling.
"Jesus, you scared me,"
"I'm sorry. You seem really lost in thought, are you okay?"
"I'm fine,"
Harper stood to greet the girl and much to her surprise, Waverly swooped down and hugged her tightly. The act caught her off guard at first but eventually, she allowed herself to let the emotions flow and hugged her niece just as tightly.
A thought surfaced and she didn't quite know how to comprehend the feelings.
She'd never even hugged her sister before, yet there she was wrapped up in her daughter's arms and it felt good.Pulling apart from each other, neither girls said anything until they each took their seats. Waverly stared at her Harper until a smile curved at her lips.
"I still can't believe I have an aunt and she looks very much like me. The only difference is that I'm taller and my eyes are blue,"
"Trust me when I say that I still can't believe it either."
"So, am I supposed to call you auntie or something?"
"Goodness no, that'll make me sound older than I actually am. Harper is just fine."
"Okay. Where's the girl that came with you the other day?"
"She's probably at home, or something. Why?"
"Nothing," Waverly answered quickly and Harper saw the way the girl's eyes roamed about nervously as she fiddled with her fingers.
"Is there something you wanna say to me or ask?"
"It would be kinda rude."
"Nonsense. I sorta have an idea of what it might be about though."
"Really?" Waverly perked a brow up.
"Yes. Is it about Ryn?"
"Yeah. She is gay, right?"
Harper chuckled, she knew it was somewhere along those lines. Upon first glance at Ryn, most people would be able to tell she's gay because of how she conducted herself. Waverly just so happened to have noticed rather quickly.
"Okay and are you two like a thing? If so you don't have to worry I'm not homophobic or anything."
She stayed silent for a bit allowing her eyes to travel the girl's body taking in the way she was dressed and noted how almost similar it was to Ryn's.
