"I'm sorry about everything, Waverly." Harper quietly apologized as both herself and Ryn stood at Mary's porch staring at the younger girl.
She had gotten significantly quiet since they'd left the office and in her eyes, it was visible that she was feeling a lot.
The turmoil reflected in her eyes like light dancing on top of water— it was the only thing they could see and pity settled deep within each of their stomachs.

"It's fine,"

"No, it's not but I'm here for you and I swear it," Harper grabbed her hand and squeezed it.

"I'm here for you too, Waves." Ryn slipped her a warm and delicate smile.

"I know you both are and that's why I'm going to be fine. I finally have two people that give a shit other than Mary and it's nice."

"And we'll always be here, we promise."

Allowing her lips to curl softly, Waverly gave her aunts hand a tight squeeze before letting it go.

"I can't say thank you enough, to both of you. So much has happened in the last two days than it has in my entire life and it's because of you two.
I finally got to meet my dad despite the fucked up circumstance. I saw my mother more in two days than I did this past year and I got to meet you, Harper and Ryn."

"Meeting you is one of the best things that has ever happened to me, period."

A smile crept onto Waverly's lips at the thought of her aunt and her obvious girlfriend but she scolded herself to keep the sneaky comment to just herself. She knew what Harper meant and she felt the same too.

"I'll see you soon okay Waverly. Take care of yourself, be good and remember if you need anything I'm only a phone call away."

"Thanks a lot, Harper."

Swooping down and squeezing Harper beneath her, Waverly allowed the tingle she felt in her heart to take over and guide her actions. She felt like crying from the events of the past days, she was sad, hurt but in the midst of it all was another feeling— she finally felt like she mattered to someone other than Mary and it made her happy.
It made her feel recognized and appreciated and those feelings were rare for her but she knew what it was real.

Breaking away, Waverly noticed the glossy appearance of her aunt's eyes and it made her heart tingled just a bit more to know the woman felt the same.

Turning her gaze to Ryn she smiled softly and the slightly taller girl reciprocated.

"I'm sorry about your eye and everything else." Clicking her tongue and shaking her head, Ryn laid a hand on Waverly's shoulder.

"Do not even worry about it, it's just a scratch."

"Well, that's one ugly scratch."

Harper couldn't control it so she let out a few chuckles, glancing at Ryn to see her eyeing her with perked brows.

"Im kidding," Waverly added, a grin on her lips. "I'll see you guys around, okay. Bye."

She then slipped inside, giving the two girls one last curl of her lips before locking the door. Almost immediately she was approached by Lucy. She ruffled up the dog's ears, her heart swelling even more.

"I think I need a break," Ryn said almost out of nowhere as they made their way back to her car.

"Right, and you've only just realized that? I've been saying this for about a week or more."

"That's because a week ago it wasn't so bad, now I'm just tired."

"Good because I think you definitely need to rest."
In a subtle movement as they neared the car, Harper tangled her fingers between Ryn's catching her off guard.
Starting down at their hands close together, the brunette couldn't help but blush.

"Can we stay at my place? I know that we've been around each other quite a lot recently but I can't help it, I'm already used to having you around."
Harper confessed causing Ryn to blush again.

"I'd really like that Harper. I'm getting used to you too, it's like I could fall in love with you."

"What?" Harper was both stunned and elated to hear such a thing come out of the girl's mouth.

"I mean it. I could fall in love with you. You're so sweet, you wear your heart on your sleeve which to most people is a crazy thing to do but to me I think it's perfect. You're so loving to others even when you shouldn't be."

There were no words that Harper could think of to say that could've articulated what she felt, but she chose the latter option in her mind. Tiptoeing enough so that Ryn would understand her clear intentions, she cupped her face and was pleased to see her smirk before their lips connected.
It was a simple kiss but deep enough to reflect how they both felt inside at that very moment.

A few weeks ago Harper would've never guessed that a hunt for her sister would lead her down a path where she would be exposed to potential love.
She had no idea that it would've ended in such a way, a sweet chase overall despite the violence.
But she guessed some people were just lucky like that, and she was one of those people.

"I can't believe they shot her," Lincoln said, popping the lid to the Dr Pepper in his hand, placing it to his lip taking a generous sip.
Clicking his tongue as the refreshing brew slid down his oesophagus he looked at Harper who was fuming at the sight of him in her house.

"What are you doing here?"

"I came to extend my condolences, why  so mean?"

Frowning Harper ran her fingers through her loose her while staring at Ryn.

"She didn't die you, idiot, " she added.

"I know but it's such a shame, how fast she got caught. I thought she would've given you guys another week or two to find her."

"The fuck is he doing here?" Harper whispered at Ryn who chuckled to herself as she stood staring on at the two with her arms crossed against her chest.

"I told him that I was taking some time off and he thought that I should too. I then mentioned that I was with you and here he is."

"I just came to make sure you both were okay." He confessed.

"We're fine as you can see."

"Oh. They caught Vinni, just so you know."

"Really?" Ryn was impressed to hear the news.

"Yeah. Turns out he was the one to help Therese and those two women escape and the prison guard from the inside that was apart of it too, Billy is his cousin."

"That's crazy."

"I know. I'm still mad though, "

"She would have used you, man," Ryn stated honestly and Lincoln shrugged.

"I mean, I wouldn't have minded at all."

"Oh my God!" Harper facepalmed, then surrendered her arms into the air before walking out of the room.
She was tired and needed a nap and right now, Lincoln was getting in the way of that.

Ryn couldn't help but laugh at her friend, shaking her head she thumped him gently at the back of the head.

"Maybe next time okay. If she ever escapes you can try your luck but as for now fuck off okay."

"Right," He chuckled, downing the rest of the beverage before crushing the can.

"See you around okay."

"I will." Ryn walked him to the door and he turned around with a grin on his lips.

"What now?" She rolled her eyes.

"Have fun," He wiggled his brows and Ryn laughed, knowing the dirty thought that was filled inside his equally dirty mind.

"Go home Lincoln!"

Finally getting rid of him, Ryn strolled off to find Harper.
She was curled up inside her bed despite the hour of the day it was.
She was tired, so it made sense but looking at her made Ryn thought of them doing everything but sleep. A smile eased across her face.
