"Are you sure you want to do this?" I asked Sam as we sat on his bed. He had asked me months ago if he could meet my parents. He met my Mum first and she loved it. They spoke for hours and I felt so relaxed. My Dad was a different story. Ever since he found out that Sam and I were dating his attitude completely changed. No one seemed good enough.

"Your Mum absolutely loved me babe, I don't understand what the problem is?" Sam asked me, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear. Of course he didn't understand what the problem was, he hadn't met the problem.

I sighed before giving in, they'd have to meet each other at some point. "Okay fine. My Mum is cooking dinner tonight, meet me at mine at 5pm?" I asked hesitantly. Sam smiled at me, taking my hand in his. "It'll be fine babe, I won't say anything to mess it up. I'll be on my best behaviour." I wasn't worried what Sam would say. I was worried what my Dad would say.

I got up from Sam's bed and gathered my belongings from the night before. Somehow my underwear always ends up in the corner of the room when I spend the night with Sam. I stuffed everything into my bag and headed towards the door. "Don't be late" I smiled at him, before leaving his house and walking back to mine.

As I entered the house I could already hear my parents arguing. Great.

"He's a nice boy, why can't you just give him a chance?" My mother yelled towards my father, sat in the living room. He got up and walked into the kitchen. "If I've told you once, I've told you a million times, he's not good enough for her. We hadn't even heard of him before he wrote a bloody song!"

I sighed before quietly closing the door and heading upstairs. "Honey? Is that you?" My Mum asked from downstairs. I stopped outside of my bedroom door and turned to face her. "Yep, only me. Is it okay if Sam comes for dinner at 5pm?" I replied quietly. She smiled and nodded her head. "I'll tell your father, don't worry. It'll be fine." I thanked her and headed into my bedroom.

"No, no, no!" My father shouted from downstairs. I guess she had broken the news to him. I decided not to go and get involved, I'd only make things worse. I spent my time waiting for Sam by watching him cover "break up with your girlfriend" on YouTube. His voice amazed me every time I head him sing.

My phone lit up, signalling I had a text message from Sam. It read 'I'm here, should I knock on the door or will I die?' I laughed at his comment, running down the stairs and opening the door. He smiled at me and produced two bunches of flowers from behind his back. "One for you and one for your Mum" he stated. Could this boy be anymore charming?

I kissed him quickly on the lips before taking the flowers and welcoming him into the house. "Sam's here!" I yelled into the kitchen as he removed his jacket and hung it up next to the door. I took his hand and walked into the living room with him. "He got you these Mum" I said, handing her the bunch of flowers. She placed her hand on her heart smiling before giving him a huge hug. "You're too kind Samuel, you shouldn't have" her eyes glistened at the kind gesture.

We followed her into the kitchen, my Dad was already seated at the table. "Hi Sir, I'm Sam, your daughters boyfriend" he stated, outstretching his hand for my Dad to shake. "By the look of you  I thought you came off the street" he sneered, pointing at Sam's ripped skinny jeans. Sam placed his hand back by his side.

"Samuel, please take a seat darling" my Mum said as she placed dinner on the table. Sam thanked her as I glared at my Dad. I knew this would happen.

Dinner was quiet and awkward. I kept squeezing Sam's thigh throughout dinner to ensure he was okay. Every time he simply smiled at me before continuing to eat his meal and compliment my Mum on her cooking.

As we began to finish, my Dad cleared his throat. "So, can I ask what exactly your intensions are with my daughter?" He asked. I rolled my eyes. Great. The question every boyfriend wants to be asked. Sam set his cutlery down and grabbed my hand, "well Sir I think your daughter is truly amazing and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us." I knew my Dad wouldn't be happy with that.

"You didn't answer my question. A house? Marriage? Kids? Or do you intend to drop her if you get famous?" He asked. I shook my head, my Mum smiled sadly at me. I could feel Sam's palms starting to sweat. "I'd love to have all of those things with her. We just need to see what pans out." Sam stated. My Dad simply glared at him.

"Thank you for dinner Mum, excuse us" I said as I grabbed Sam's hand and headed up to my bedroom. As soon as we entered the room I couldn't stop apologising.

"I'm so sorry Sam, I knew this was going to happen. I shouldn't have agreed to it, you shouldn't have to be put under pressure like that" I said, pacing up and down the room. Sam stopped me, grabbing my hands and pulling me into him. I sat on his lap whilst he looked into my eyes.

"I asked to meet him. This is all my doing. You have done nothing wrong. Besides, I think I answered his questions okay. Didn't I?" He laughed. I buried my face into his neck laughing with him. He did do a good job.

He pulled away looking at me. "I understand you're his little girl and he doesn't want you to grow up. I'll be the same when we have kids. No one will ever be good enough for them!" He laughed, holding my hand.

"He just needs to get use to us,  that's all." Maybe he was right.
