Chapter Two: Cannonball

By 5pm, my mom had finally came home she pulls up on the drive whilst i was lay back watching tv with Ally, James and Henrietta. I invited them round because i felt lonely earlier on. So my mom slamming the car doors, makes her way into the house, remembering to lock the car this time! As she opened the door Ally wanted to go behind the door and frighten her but i suggested that probably it wasnt a good idea after she has been working all day, so we just sat there instead on the sofa watching American Dad. She comes into the living room takes off her shoes and sits down on the sofa and relaxes. She looked exhausted. Ally and James both somehow got a message from their mom's simultanously, James had told Henrietta it was time to go because they are brother and sister so they all got up and had to leave. I said bye, gently shutting the door and peeping in the living room, I noticed my mom asleep on the sofa.

I head upstairs and do my science homework, as i'm doing my science homework i listen to my one of my favourite bands 'Before You Exit' they're from Orlando, Florida in the US. So i click play on my ipod, gently swaying to Three Words; ' When the sun shines through my window, I always think of you. You've got the eyes of an angel, you're every dream come true. That night goes through my head, i try to rewind. My girl, you're just one one one of a kind, when i give up and fall down, you always get me through. It reminds me of our love, and everything with you' 2 minutes into the song, i hear my phone go off i notice that Ally is calling me therefore i picked up my phone and pressed the green call button to accept her call. 'HEY! Hallie, hey how are you?' 'Ermm...Hey, i'm good thanks are you?' 'Yeah, Yeah i'm good!' 'So, whats up?' 'Ermm... Just wondering if you checked out this amazing picture of Braiden today, i'll send you the picture on facebook now, its him in Brazil at No Capricho, Haha what do you think?' 'I mean, its just a picture of Braiden in Brazil at No Capricho?!' 'Just a picture!!! It means everything to me' 'Okay Ally, calm down, i have to go Ally i'm busy doing my science homework' 'Okay, killjoy' *2 hours later, since Ally rang me* Checking my phone to see what time it is, 10:30PM, must go sleep, so tired! I close my eyes and dream of meeting Before You Exit one day even though its not possible here in New Orleans :/ I place my phone on charge on my bedside table, turn off my lamp and turn on my side and slowly drift off to sleep with Riley in all of my dreams.

*Next day* I wake up to an empty house wondering if my mom had to go work early until i realised the time and rushed to Ally's to walk to school today was Friday, finally! A week feels like forever especially if it drags. I get home from school at 3:30PM to see my mom, in the living room upset with 2 officers by her side. She's crying, she cant even speak with the tears running down her face. I get the news of one of the officers who tells me that 'My step-dad had died, even though i knew him a little and i used to go to his in summer unless i had summer camp, we used to chat sometimes through facebook and text. I immediately ran upstairs upset and in frustration as to why it had happened, i felt so upset! I slammed my door shut and buried my face in my pillow, with tears coming from my eyes it had left puddles of tears on my pillow.

I heard my phone ring, it was Ally i declined her call straight away as i was too upset at this point to even talk to anyone, not even my mom or the 2 officers with my mom downstairs. I was too upset i didn't feel like eating so i stayed in my room all night, me and my mom didn't speak at all that night, so i went to bed crying myself to sleep, i didn't want to go to school in the morning. I got up at my usual time for school and told my mom i didn't want to go in. She refused for me to stay off, so i had no choice of going into school. I got dressed, had my breakfast but i had sent Ally a text saying i didn't want to meet up to walk to school, i was still upset to the tragic news i got given yesterday about my dad.

Extension: I just got to school in time, i ran to my form room as the first bell rang for form time/registration. I approached the door and opened it, i sat down in my seat. My form tutor called out names for the register, 'Taylor', 'Jai' ,'Tyler', 'Cameron', and 'Hallie!'. 'Present!' I replied. 15 minutes later *bell rings* for first period, Art. One of the lessons which i do like but sometimes i could just drift off to sleep in. Anyways, so Art goes by, and i head to Maths which i dont particularly enjoy. However, i come into class and sit down, James is in my maths too. I couldn't seem to focus properly and i had only been in the class for 20 minutes, my teacher Mrs Sanderson was just going on with herself and giving us a lecture. I sat there glaring out of the window for the next 20 minutes thinking of Before You Exit until, she came over and asked why i wasnt doing any work, i refused to do anything because my mind kept bringing back up the fact my dad is now dead and i felt helpless and like it was my fault. She decided to get my head of year to take me out of lesson and to take me to suclussion.I kicked off i was so annoyed and upset, i ran out leaving all my stuff behind, i ran to the toilets, the only place i could be alone! I shut the door behind me, and slowly slid to the ground, with tears falling down my face, i couldn't stop crying.

Just then, Ally walked in on me crying she somehow could tell it was me. I tried ignoring her as i just wanted to be alone! Ally left after a while, getting the hint, all of sudden i heard my mom, Ally had rang her and told her everything. I came out of the cubicle and my mom was comforting me, hugging and squeezing me and telling me everything was going to be alright. She then, offered to take me home, James brought out my stuff and said to me 'I hope you're okay' I just nodded then went over to Ally to say thankyou for getting my mom to come, when i really needed it.

Me and my mom, approached the car we got inside and headed home for some alone time, to talk about today and what happened. I felt so ashamed to have broke down like that, i had never experienced that before. It was really weird. Ally and James came round after they had finished at school, and came to comfort and talk to me to make sure i was okay and if they could help with anything. I felt so much better by now, we decided to go out for a little while and just have some fun at Henrietta's party at James' house. My mom agreed to drop us off at James' house, she said 'it's a great idea, it's about time you had some fun!' She drove us to the house and we quickly headed inside, Henrietta was wearing an amazing dress which I couldn't have chose better myself, it was baby blue, with sequins at the top, shimmering from where she was standing, making her way downstairs she greeted us, and said 'Its great that you came, haha obviously James had no choice being my brother haha' Me and Ally burst out laughing as James looked embarrassed to be her brother. Me and Ally went to get some punch and James had gone to talk to his mom about some cd he found in his car the other day. We managed to find the punch, so we poured some into cups, and gradually sipped it. Me and Ally went to dance to the up beat music, casually dancing away and Ally making a fool of herself by dancing the robot. A slow song came on, and we sat back down and then James came over asking to dance. I said okay, asking Ally if she'd be okay on her own for a minute. I think she went to find Henrietta though. At 12am, I told James i had to go, so me and Ally got our belongings, we said 'bye' to Henrietta and thanks to James' mom for inviting us. James offered to drop us off in his car, so we got in and headed home. I got into my home, and quietly crept into the house as it was past my curfew, and i headed to bed as soon as i got in.

Writers Comment: So this is just a bit about Hallie's personal life in this chapter to introduce Hallie to you, she's just had tragic news and she doesn't know what to do next, see what she does next in chapter 3, which should be up pretty soon hopefully!
