Aaron couldn't help the laughter she emitted when Jasper threw Emmett down for the thousandth time that morning. She wanted to arrive with the wolves, but instead, she decided to come just a bit earlier.
And boy was she glad she did.
Emmett was getting worked up over the fact that he couldn't stop Jasper. And you could tell by the look on Jaspers's face he was loving it. For the first time, he was in control over everything. Aaron couldn't deny it -
It was hot.
They still weren't like they used to be and she hasn't completely forgiven them just yet. But having to be around them to help Bella, well it wasn't as tough as she hoped it to be.
The Cullens Jeep pulled up indicating the arrival of Bella and Edward. Shortly after, the wolves arrived.
Paul nuzzled Aarons's hand making a look flash on Jasper's face. She knew that look. That was jealousy.
"They don't trust us enough to be in their human forms," Edward relayed to the others. It made Aaron sigh because that would have made this ten times more interesting, but this will do.
Carlisle nodded at all of them. "They came, that is all that matters. Will you translate, Edward?" The telepath had no choice in the matter or time to argue before Carlisle continued. "Jasper has experience with newborns. He'll teach us how to defeat them."
Aaron shifted uncomfortably knowing the full story. It was something she never wanted to revisit.
"They want to know how the 'newborn' is different from us."
Carlisle gave them a soft smile. Aaron knew that he was trying to make them relax. "They're a great deal stronger than us because their own human blood lingers in their tissues. Our kind is never more physically powerful than in our first several months of this life," he explained making the pack shift their gazes to one another.
Jasper stepped forward, his gaze sharp clearly still not liking the fact that Aaron was leaning against Paul. "Carlisle's right. That's why they are created. A newborn army doesn't need thousands like a human army. And no human army could stand against them. The two most important things to remember are, first... Never let them get their arms around you. They'll crush you instantly. The second... Never go for the obvious kill. They'll be expecting that. And you will lose. Emmett? Don't hold back," he commented as the two began to spar again.
It was a series of blurs but Aaron was able to keep up with them.
It was fun to watch, but the wolves never joined in. Neither did she considering they wouldn't allow her too. It was pissing her off just a bit, but she was able to control it.
She was messing with Paul when it happened. Her laughter was filling the clearing - something she hadn't done in a while around the Cullens - but them she abruptly cut it off.
Because as Alice twisted down from the tree to surprise Jasper and win the spar, she placed a long kiss to his mouth.
And he never pulled away.
It felt like someone had shot her in the heart.
She thought that the two of them were on their way to being back to what they were. Guess I was wrong, she thought to herself as her heart began to twist and turn.
Paul growled making the two pull apart, but Aaron was frozen to her spot. It seemed as if the other Cullens were surprised too, but that didn't make the girl feel any better.
Instead, she turned on her heel and began to run away with the wolves. She kept running and running and running -
Until she blacked out.
- - - -
"Aaron? Aaron! Oh, thank God!"
The voice was far away, but it was Embry's. He was scared and when she was able to pry her eyes open, his face matched that.
She sat up finding that all the wolves were crammed into a tiny room. They all looked at her worriedly as Carlisle began taking her temperature.
"Have you been blacking out a lot lately?" he questioned, his tone clipped. She furrowed her eyebrows not knowing what she had done to deserve it. Aaron nodded, too afraid to say anything. "I can't figure out what is wrong. All your vitals are fine," he snapped before packing everything up.
"Carlisle, why are you so mad at me?" she finally blurted out making him whirl around with fury in his eyes.
"Because this is the second time you have tried to kill Alice! I want you to stay away from my family until you get whatever is ailing you under control. Even after that, I don't know if I want you to be near them," he commented making her heart drop. "You can help in the final battle, but that is it. Stay away."
With those two words, the bullet wound in her heart split it into two.
Aaron began to sob on whoever's bed this was, the pack coming over to comfort her. All she could keep repeating over and over was that she had no clue what he was talking about. "The last thing I remember was running away after seeing Jasper and Alice kissing," she told them taking the tissues from Sam's hand.
"Aaron, you went back. We followed you and all of a sudden you just stopped and got this blank look on your face. You went back and began throwing her around and almost ripped her head off before we could pull you off of her. Then you just went slack in our arms," Quill commented making her release a shaky breath.
"I have no clue what you are talking about."
The pack believed her, but how could they prove that? They couldn't which is why they all sat in silence aside from the sniffles coming from the girl. No one could fathom telling her that Bella hated her once again. Which is exactly why they were keeping her phone from her.
A few hours passed by before she was able to piece herself together enough for them to allow her to read the messages. Instead of breaking down into more tears, her face when blank. Just like before making them all get ready in case she began to run again.
Aaron just slowly put her phone face down before exhaling a shaky breath. "Thank you all for being here for me. I can take it from here," she commented getting up and grabbing her shoes. Paul called back for her since she forgot her phone, but she already was gone into the darkness.
When walking into her house, she completely bypassed her family to hide away in her room. It was in there that she locked the door and window before grabbing a bag from her closet. She began filling it with random clothing and things that were important to her.
The bag sat at the foot of her bed as she got ready to sleep. Taking a cigarette out of the pack, she lit it up and opened the window to sit on it. Charlie hates that she began smoking and would kill her if he smelt it in the house.
Slowly killing herself, she sat there looking at the moon - one of the wolfs howling - to just remember this moment.
Because after the battle, there wouldn't be many of them.
